A peculiar scene unfolded in Pattaya when a foreign visitor was apprehended after an unusual attempt to dispose of a traffic ticket. This muscular traveller, who was riding a motorcycle shirtless and without a helmet, was stopped by police at a checkpoint situated in front of the Pattaya police station.

Upon being asked to present his driving licence, the visitor refused, prompting the officers to issue him a ticket for his infractions. In a surprising turn of events, he accepted the ticket, proceeded to swallow it, and then washed it down with water, reported Bangkok Post.

AdvertisementsEfforts by the police to secure the front wheel of his motorcycle and handcuff him proved challenging. Despite the initial resistance, he eventually consented to accompany the officers to the police station to face prosecution.

Are the police the same as UK police and not trained in restraint?

Try that in Sydney Australia  and unfortunately and I do say unfortunately they would of used their chokehold procedures ( which should be banned) to put him on the ground

What were they going to do if he walked away like he was doing ?

Lack of training ?

This guy is so stupid, it actually looks funny.

And then we the obvious is stated, a given individual, of a given skin color, and of a given race, the word racist just pops up. We are trying, trying...

How many times have I said to individuals of such characteristics back home, newly immigrants, that their behavior will affect the perception that the host country has towards all the others visitors of the same background.

They simply do not care, or are unaware that their behavior is unacceptable, or simply because they cannot change anything, it is deep rooted in their culture....

You really should have stopped at, "This guy is so stupid" and saved your proselytising for when you get "back home".

Ultimately, the encounter adds to Pattaya’s trove of quirky tourist stories, reminding all of the importance of adhering to local customs and regulations

Like the locals do? 😋

The cops ned to start carrying Tasers

Why? The guy was a total pillock who eventually backed down and was arrested.

Fairly recently, there was a Chinese tourist who got all bent out of shape over his flight delays at DMK. He was shouting and swinging his skateboard at security and the cops. After letting him carry on for about ten minutes, where nobody got hurt, he eventually calmed down and was allowed to board his flight, leave the country and be someone else's problem.

Meanwhile, the usual suspects on AN were calling for tazers and even LAPD-style shoot-first then call for backup law enforcement.

Honestly, you need to get over yourselves (you know who you are).

Well, perhaps you should have stopped after this:

"Why? The guy was a total pillock who eventually backed down and was arrested."

And saved your proselytising for when you get back to where you come from... 😊

I see you're still not over yourself.

Your goal is only meant to criticize, and bring nothing to any forum.

And you can see how easy it is. Nobody knows what it means, but you still click and send

What's his name, he could be from Nigeria or the Bronx . Or anywhere else in the world...

Seemed to be enjoying all the attention. My guess is he is a tourist who was off his meds, or inebriated. Agree with "lay off the hate" sentiment expressed above.

When issued a traffic citation for these infractions, the visitor bizarrely ingested the ticket, washing it down with water, surprising officers and bystanders alike.

Is that illegal?  Don't you have 30 days or so to pay the fine?

Anyhoo, great video with hordes of helmetless motosci riders riding by unmolested, including the family of four with two young kids who paused at the crossing to gawk. (2:52)

Did he get a ticket for not wearing a shirt in public?

That's illegal.

LOL she called him a "person of color" in Thai. Are you telling me Thai news is watching American news and then translating back to Thai their language? Calling an African a "person of color" makes no sense in the context of Thailand unless maybe they think of themselves as white? No idea what she was thinking.

I see Thais getting pulled over and ticketed at the same checkpoint every time the police are conducting their checks.

Driving while black has nothing to do with it.

Get over it.

No you don't. I see only tourists pulled over. Though agree that skin colour likely did not play a part. Just an obvious tourist with no helmet and no shirt.
