Georgealbert Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Picture from responders Tragedy struck in the early hours of the morning of December 26, when a husband and wife lost their lives in a fatal head-on collision between their motorcycle with sidecar and a pickup truck. The accident occurred at approximately 01:45 near a petrol station in Sahatsakhan District, Kalasin Province. Emergency responders from the Eng Tek Tung Foundation were dispatched to the scene following reports of the collision. Upon arrival, they discovered a severely damaged pickup truck with its cargo scattered across the road, alongside the wreckage of the motorcycle and sidecar. The husband and wife, who had been travelling on the motorcycle, were pronounced dead at the scene. Initial investigations revealed that the couple had been on their way to a local market to sell goods and were travelling on the wrong side of the road, when the devastating crash took place, cutting their journey short. Eyewitness accounts and evidence at the scene suggest that the impact of the collision caused their merchandise to scatter across the road, adding to the chaotic aftermath of the crash. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash, with efforts focused on gathering witness statements and analysing the vehicles involved. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released as officials work to notify their family members. The pickup driver was taken to the police station for testing and to be interviewed. -- 2024-12-27 3

Popular Post Tailwagsdog Posted December 28, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 28, 2024 ...crazy driving on the wrong side ...and lights? ...were they switched on ? ...I almost got caught stepping on to the road years ago in Jomtien checking to my right before proceeding across divided 2nd Rd when I narrowly avoided being hit by a motorbike sidecar driven by a woman who couldn't give a damn. Thailand Roads are death & disability traps ... 1 1 1
RetroGTAndrew Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I really don't understand the mindset that makes people think that 'ghost riding' is a good idea? There certainly seems to be a significant increase in the past 5 years or so. Some roads (southern end of the SriNakarin road in SamutPrakan for example) seem to have a continuous stream of motorbikes heading the wrong way! 1

Cut their lives short... for what, a bit of time? 1
Confuscious Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 While the couple on the 3 wheeled bike were driving on the wrong side of the road, the pickup driver will be charged with wreckless driving causing harm to others. Standard practize here. You should always take care of the traffic conditions and adapt your speed to the traffic conditions. I had an accident similar to this (luckely nobody died) but was charged with wreckless driving. 1

Motorcycles? Out here in the boonies, 10-wheel trucks loaded with sugarcane, occasionally with trailer, regularly ghost the highway because it's too much trouble to drive a kilometer to a legal U-turn.
Barnet1900 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Those 3 wheeled things are equally as dangerous as speeding vehicles. They pull out, stop, double park, drive in any direction they choose to and don't give a toss about anybody else. They brought it on themselves. No sympathy at all. 1
