The topic is about mutts, not people

All dogs can be trained, even if it's hard. With the right training and love, they can be like a German Shepherd.

You cannot train aggression out of them it's in their DNA, any more than you can train a poodle to be a sheep dog. Pit Bulls top the list for serious attacks and deaths, they are all dangerous animals.

I'll say this again, through another's viewpoint. No dogs are aggressive by Dna.No, aggression in dogs is not a breed characteristic, and genetics are not the only factor that influences a dog's behavior:

Genetics and environment
A dog's behavior is a complex interaction between genetics and environmental factors....
Breed alone is not a reliable predictor
Breed alone is not a reliable predictor of a dog's behavioral tendencies, including aggression...
Pit bulls are generally well-tempered
According to the American Temperament Test Society (ATTS), pit bulls are among the most tolerant breeds and score higher on temperament tests than other dogs.....
All dogs can be aggressive
All dogs, regardless of breed or size, are capable of dog attacks and causing serious injury. ...............Again, any dog can be aggressive, vicious and capable of hurting humans. Some have the strength, like Pits, Shepherds, Dobermans, Rottweilers and Huskies, to kill. To the OP, I'm guessing you like Pits because of prior experience with them. You have to train the dog to be gentle with everyone, right from birth. You let them think they are the boss, or let them get away with any aggressive behavior, they can turn on you or anyone, and like some have said, they can cause a lot of damage very quickly. Abusing any animals can have it turn on you or others, but that's a given. If you just want a dog, and aren't looking at just a Pit, there are breeds that are easier to take care of with less training that don't have the ability to harm others so much. Another viewpoint..............https://skepchick.org/2022/05/study-are-pit-bulls-genetically-predisposed-to-violence/

I currently reside in Thailand and have made the decision to get a dog, specifically a Pitbull (doesn't have to be purebred). However, I’m unsure about where to begin my search.

Start your search in any country where these dangerous animals are banned/illegal.

Come on, we are all still curious as to what prompted your decision to get a Pitbull type animal.

Agreed - Genetics through breeding - genetically pre-disposed to certain instinctual and behavioural patters which require a strong effective training environment to counteract.

Disagree - certain breeds are bred specifically for their aggression, others are naturally more aggressive.

The combination of aggression and power is a specific trait of these dogs, whereas the nastly little b@stard Chihuahuas are naturally aggressive, but lack the power to be deadly.

Until they are not - and stats show they attack more with more devastating impact that most other breeds.

But, I'd accept that extremely well trained PitBulls are very tolerant and have an excellent temperament - until they don't.

100% agree with this... The best dog owners are the ones who are well aware that their dog can always presents a risk, especially to small children etc...

The worst dog owners are the ones who are likely to say "oh he's harmless, he'll lick you to death"...

Has anyone ever called their PitBill a name such as bubbles, Snowey, Angel, or CupCake ???...    i.e. names other than Shreder, Tyson, Razor, Blaze, Fang etc...   (names associated with power, aggression and violence)

I find them to be nice-looking dogs, and I had a friend who owned a Pitbull that was friendly, unlike the few Pitbulls who happen to have an irresponsible owner and get a bad rep because of it

Pits were originally bred for aggression, against other animals, not humans. People have used this to cause problems these times because of this past knowledge. The breed is a very strong breed and people use this for dog fights and ego . Training a breed this strong to be dangerous is plain ignorance, because they can turn on you and others in your family. Again, this can happen in any dogs trained to be aggressive or abused. They are a very strong dog breed and people need to take this into account, just as they should with any breed that's strong and capable of a damaging bite.

The name of the American Pit Bull Terrier dog on the TV show Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan was Daddy:

Millan later selected a pit bull puppy named Junior to be Daddy's protégé. Junior was intended to learn Daddy's temperament and take over his role after Daddy's death. However, Junior was involved in several incidents, including: Killing Queen Latifah's dog, Biting a gymnast, Attacking a Florida nurse, and Being involved in an incident with a TV producer.

Could be a good idea to Google statistics globally for which breed of dog has killed the most people.

Statistics.

What about the dog breeds that kill the most people in Thailand?

What about the pit bulls that didn't make it on that list because they have a responsible owner?

As I mentioned earlier, any dog can be dangerous. The facts are still there though. Pits do account for more attacks and deaths than other breeds, and this correlates with how many are trained. If there weren't any pits, the Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Huskies and others would be the ones doing the attacks. If everyone who owned a Pit would train them to be gentle, we wouldn't have the stats we do now. People are the main problem, followed by the strength of the dog breeds. People have asked you, why do you want a Pit anyway? Are you going to train the dog to be a well mannered, non aggressive pet or another reason?

I am sure you will come up with lots of reasons why you should get a Pittbull despite all the data regarding killings. Where do you intend to live and keep this animal ?

As far away from other people, especially children or older people please.

I live in the Kleang district of Rayong, I would intend to keep it in the house.

There are specific reasons why some want this breed, and I'm sure a few here are curious as to why you do. Like I said, you really need to let the dog know who's boss, in a gentle, non abusive way, so it grows into a dog that won't attack others, and keeping it in the house is no guarantee because it can escape, and a dog that's not used to being around others, including children, and interacting in a gentle manner, might try to protect it's territory aggressively and cause damage.

And that is one of the main reasons a dog gets aggressive, by being kept indoors for too long. Get TWO like these of mine.

Pit bulls really shouldn't get a bad reputation because of how their owners train them.

You are one of those.

They are legal in USA. No surprise there.

Illegal in so many other countries.

For a good reason.

My guess is troll thread.

You want a pit bull then easy to find.
