Kahlua Alternative?

Featured Replies

I like an occasional Black Russian but I don't want to pay 1,200 baht for a bottle of Kahlua.

Any suggestions for an alternative available at Villa or Tops?

I used to buy a Vietnamese coffee liqueur that was okay but really really sweet. I think it was maybe 300 baht per bottle. I would like to find something maybe not quite as sweet.

It's very easy to make yourself. Coffee, sugar, vanilla and alcohol (you can use vodka). You'll find lots of recipes online, but you can just adjust it to your taste. Good vanilla and allowing it to age for a while makes a big difference to the flavour.

Do you mean instant coffee, or freshly brewed?

Yes, you can get it a little cheaper if you shop around, but it's around that price.
