A large majority in the beach areas are from Isaan, so you're hearing that dialect there.

Pattaya maybe.

Issan people do not make up a majority in Bang Tao

They're everywhere and the only way you'll know is to actually ask them. Most Thais are from farming communities and Isaan's a huge area that has many moving to the beaches and BKK for work.

Well I'm one who lived in Thailand full time for a decade, then called it quits and now it's annual vacation.

Don't hate Thailand, but I did bore of it.

I am American and I don't think I have ever posted anything about Trump, or US politics at all. This is a Thai forum.

Our aim, now all the kids are settled is 1-2 months every year back in our Thai house, that for us at least is the perfect balance between Thai craziness and a life in the US

I went to Phuket on my honeymoon, Patong Beach, and around Phuket a little fishing.and many here I talk to have migrated to the beach areas for work, including the island.

I'm currently living in Thailand, but every once in a while I ask myself what I'm doing here.  Then again, until I die, I have to be somewhere and a beach in the tropics is  not bad.  Nobody bothers me about anything, and I can do what I want and go where I want, which is more than most people can say.

As for trying to characterize a country like the USA?  That's probably an exercise in futility. Some people have it great there, some people not so much.  And except for the weather, people living in a suburb could probably be in a suburb anywhere.  In a sense, they all look the same.  Same chain restaurants, same big box stores, and so on.

Exceptions would be some of the big urban areas.  NYC, LA, Chicago.  Those are different and more expensive.

Florida and Costa Rica is warm to.

I dont like hurricanes, the Atlantic ocean, and Florida humidity.

Ive had enough of spanish after being in America. I prefer Asian food to Spanish food.

Why do you care where I live. Are you so unhappy yourself that you need to question others?

I’ll go with none.

I have visited Vietnam 3 times and am currently here (coming up on 3 months).  I have been treated wonderfully every time by all the Vietnamese I have interacted with.

I too originally thought they would hate us Americans (United States citizens for the pedantic among us) but when asking about it, I was informed that only the oldest generation (mostly dead now) harbors any resentment and most actually are quite interested in the USA from politics to music and sports (Lebron James was a favorite of one hotel manager)

Maybe people who think Vietnamese (in general) don’t like Americans are mistaking a generalization with the fact that they probably just didn’t like him.

Did I ever tell you about the time I got pick pocketed by a Viet hooker in the old Nana short time hotel?

It's just natural folow up questions for a proud American like you.

I believe I'm allowed to be curious after your tirade of accusations and attitudes.

An Aussie living in northern Nan province for seven years. Married to a Thai ex-nurse for 15 years, been with her for 17. Prior to coming to start semi-retirement here lived and worked in Singapore, Dubai and Arizona for nearly a decade so haven't lived in Australia for over 15 years. COVID turned semi-retirement into full retirement unfortunately. I'm highly likely to return to Australia to live within 8-15 months with the Thai wife or she will follow once a number of matters are finalized here in Thailand.

Thats fine then, you want to see nice country, look at SE Missouri or Western NC, thats more my style.

The big problem with the USA is the size. Got to have wheels

Have family in Minnesota, but half of them relocated back to Norway after 100 yearsin 2016. They got the best Usa had to offer. Now citizens in Norway.

I have lived in Florida several winter seasons, and the climate was quite good, except for a few days very cold mornings in my Trailer.

I haven't been there. Perhaps the food is better there. Of course most visitors stay on the beaten track and so are subject to the ridiculous pricing, taxes, tipping, additives and...marketing. I cannot say that I have been everywhere, but I describe my experience. Apologies if it doesn't align with your belief system.

Got it: you have been to NY or LA and think thats all there is. The USA is not entirely a left wing hellhole.

Been to Maine? Eastern TN? WV? Idaho?

Your inability to see the difference in the two questions is childishly pathetic.

You wanted to know where I lived and he wanted to know where you lived. Seems like the same question to me.

Have you met @fredwiggy? Brothers from a different mother?

Aaahh...now I understand. You are trying to tell me that your name-calling and general abuse towards another member wasn't really bad behaviour and that was simply my mistake for not knowing that you had history with that other member and therefore it doesn't count when you abuse them later.

Have I got it now?

Apologies for my mistake of showing you the evidence that you requested when you requested it.

Apologies for my inability to understand anything in the way that you want me to and apologies for me thinking that your replies to me were trying to convince me that name-calling doesn't count as abuse when you do it. I understand that you only did it to help people.

Thank you for letting me know that I was "assuming, like a few others here do" that abuse is abuse and not understanding that you are exceptional.

Thank you for informing me that you put blame where it belongs and therefore you blame @MalcolmB for your behaviour.

Since you have repeatedly pointed out my inability to understand anything, perhaps you should stop trying to get me to understand you and accept that I won't see it in the way that you want me to see it.

Thank you.

Which leads me to your last paragraph....Hitler? I'm not getting it. Who is Hitler in your analogy? You or @MalcolmB? 🤭

Please don't bother to try to explain. I obviously won't understand.

Take some time and go back and look at all of the replies. Then go to another topic and you might see a history, yes. Then you'll also see who's calling names and who's pointing out the obvious, which are two separate things. Yes, you obviously aren't close to understanding the whole picture but join a forum a week ago and think you know all about certain people from a few replies. You have been doing this to a few others here already and one has put you on ignore today. Can you possibly see that maybe this is your problem and that your inability to comprehend what has happened in this history has you put the blame on me, calling me the name caller when it's he that has done this numerous times? Drop the apologies, false as they are, and take some time to rethink your sarcasm and use them with someone who isn't up on your kind. I don't blame anyone for what I say. I blame them for what they say. See the difference? You definitely won't see things as I do and sticking up for someone who acts like he does is all I need to understand your motives.
