Yes I know more fat, grease and oil.

Just opened at the new shopping area they are making near the Dolphin circle, across from Terminal 21 on Pattaya Nua road.

Thanks for posting.  Lots of redevelopment going on in that area, with the new shopping/entertainment complex going in at Again Pattaya on a large plot by the circle.  Also, the really huge Centre Point 3 resort is now going up in front of Cape Dara.  A new highrise condo is planned near the recently finished Akara Hotel.  Centara Grand Resort is undergoing a rather large renovation and another new luxury highrise condo, Arom Wongamat, has opened or is about to open.   Have also seen signs for a Wyndham Grand condo project.

You can see the old Peace Resort in the background, not demolished but being redeveloped. The new Nana Plaza? It's the right semi-circular shape and multi-storied.

Totally irrelevant, but I went to the very first one to open in the UK......1974......Just been to see McCartney.....Red Rose Speedway.

Yeah, I wasn't far behind you as a Polish friend took me to the one near St. James Park in 1977, I think it was. I was impressed, tasty, cheap fast food, what more could a student want? When I fancy a triple cheeseburger in Pattaya these days, I usually head for the branch of McD's in TukCom as it's the closest to my house. I usually buy four at a time, eat one and freeze the other three. They microwave fine and make a decent quick meal when I fancy it. Since they opened the new Burger King on Jomtien Beach Road, though, I've been getting my burger fix there as I find the Whopper is more satisfying and tastier, being char grilled on an open flame. The Whopper cheese also freezes fine, though I remove the lettuce, tomato and mayo first as they probably won't freeze very well.

I was in Warsaw when the first one opened there. An American colleague who would barely walk anywhere was stood there in line.....

If they had that Ronald McDonald figure standing outside McDonald's in the US there would be so many lawsuits.

This photo is a scan of an old 35mm slide I took. Must have been around 1985 as I believe this was the first McDonalds to open in Thailand. It was (is?) located in Bangkok, just down the street (up the street?) from the Erawan shrine. It was packed with ‘Hi-So’ school children.

You must be a millionaire if you can afford to eat at BK frequently.

I agree that they are better, and I would also eat at BK when their prices were still reasonable, since then I haven't used BK or McD for years

They do.   Regardless, why do you suggest that there would be lawsuits?

You know what a wai is and it's meaning?

Of course I do.  But most people living in the USA would see it as a praying figure and lawsuits would be filed to stop it.

Well lucky we don't have that BS in Thailand, which is where this is. Who cares about what Americans would do with it?

Sorry to contradict but the first McDonald’s to open in the Uk was in Woolwich South East London on 13th November 1974 unless of course that is the one you are referring to

??? It was.....I'd been to see him at the Hammersmith Odeon.....and caught one of the roses he threw out......and promptly lost it on the way home!!!!....5555.

HOWEVER.....the plot thickens......that was in '73.

So it must have been the following year?....I had a girlfriend who worked for the BBC and she was living in BBC accommodation in Notting Hill.....but I recall it was summer, really good weather....so maybe even '75.

Well thank you for bringing all those memories flooding back.
