As a proud American concerned with the vital interests of my country, I dont much care what the Socialist enemy thinks.

Wild to see so many Americans happy that China took control of the Panama canal we built, but outraged at the suggestion we take back control.

That is a good point.

It seems many Americans wants a president who entertains them.

Who will be able to explain to those people that being president is a serious job?

Hong Kong based Hutchison Whampoa, which has been in the port management business since 1863, operates the Panama Canal container port.

Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) operates across Europe, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. It operates in five of the seven busiest container ports in the world, handling 13% of the world's container traffic. Hutchison Whampoa operates container terminals in Panama, as well as Mexico and other parts of the Americas.

You really believe that Trump is telling the truth?

It's interesting that Trump is complaining about Chinese container ports in Panama, but seems to be perfectly content with Chinese owned and operated container ports in San Diego, Long Beach, etc...

he is a fascinating character, the fact people lap up his lies and kow tow to him is (e.g. zuckerberg needs to grow a pair), to a non american, frankly bizarre, the fact he can get so many people to vote for him is stunning. it's fascinating to watch trump tear america apart - you get what you vote for, so tough. though slightly worrying the negative effect he may have outside the usa borders...

Another one that ignores that Trump only won because his opponent was too bad to vote for. He was only the winning candidate because the GOP couldn't find anyone better to stand in the primaries.

The US is clearly lacking in anyone with a brain cell willing to be POTUS.

America didn't need Trump to tear itself apart- it's been doing that long before Trump became POTUS first time, IMO.

They do want a serious president, but when the only 2 viable candidates are a braggart and a gibbering idiot, might as well go with the entertaining one.

Chinese container ports in the US are not in a position to close the Panama canal to US shipping.

He's just doing what has been done before by many others, say something outlandish so that the follow up suggestions don't seem so.

Of course when it's one of the, soon to be most powerful heads of state on the planet, it's a tad concerning I guess.

I'm more curious as to who was in his ear originally about Greenland and now the Panama Canal.

Bonus points that Trump is the choice that global dictators especially Putin strongly preferred.

Neither are Chinese container ports in Panama.  The Panamanians control shipping in the canal, the Chinese just run some of the container ports.

Another point I didn't mention is that few US ships transit the canal.  Most US bound cargo is moved on Liberian or Panamanian or Marshall Island registered vessels.  So we are going to war to protect the Liberian merchant marine?  This is the same problem we faced in the Red Sea - who exactly are we protecting?  The US got out of the shipping business decades ago.  They only US merchant marine left are a few tankers and a bunch of barges on the Mississippi, none of which transit the Panama Canal!

Yes of course he has. Is he going to jail, too?

Why should he?  Because the Marxist Judicial system came up with phony  charges and kept his cases in the Democrat gulag. Where is the real Judicial system?  Not used for Trump.

Through the Chinese soldiers that Trump claims operate in the Canal. Invisible soldiers that only he can detect.

Are they of the same invisibility as the Chinese police which is operating in most western countries?

Trump clearly lacks a plan or even the slightest of how to act, following his claims about Greenland and the Panama Canal.

However, it must be acknowledged that the journalist question to Trump was specifically formulated to elicit the exact given by Trump and provoke indignation. It is well-known by now that asking Trump if he takes something off the table elicits an automatic negative response.

All Trump wants is to be talked about on TV news and written about in newspapers. The more outrageous the action he is being asked to give up, the more likely he is to say he is seriously considering it.

The only question that still remains unanswered is why such an idiot was elected president of the United States. I can help with that. The voters and the democratic opposition know the answer: they both deserve him.

Another angle on the Panama Canal thing.

Jimmy Carter now lies in state at the U.S. Capitol.

The flag will be at half mast at Trump's swearing in shindig.

People are now giving Carter a lot of attention and saying very nice things about him, at least about his POST presidency.

The final handover of the Panama Canal to the people of Panama was done by who?
You guessed it.

Jimmy Carter.

Trump of course is an extreme narcissist and always wants to have more attention than anyone else in the entire world.

So this explains his timing, yes?

The real thing:

You must have missed the bit about the US navy. Nothing to do with "shipping.

As for your claim that the Chinese can't stop the US shipping ( navy ) it only takes a few guys with anti ship missiles to do that, and if they are already in Panama with a load of containers, how can you say they ain't a threat?

In a contest between 2 idiots, the one with a known track record won. The people of the US are sick to the eyeballs with warmongers in Washington getting them into stupid wars. IMO.

Posters of your ilk keep wondering why Trump was elected, when they only have to look at Harris in full cackle to know the answer

Here's an idea for you Trump haters to consider. Why don't we Brits give you our prime-minister Starmer in exchange for your (two time) president Trump ? I suspect quite a few Brits would approve, just not sure about you lot.

Yeah threatening war with NATO allies Denmark and Canada and ally Panama wouldn't be war mongering. Oh no! God King Mr. Trump would never do such a thing! He's a very moral man.  Yes he is.

I'll never understand the maga/Kremlin talking point of asserting that Ukraine DEFENDING themselves against the Z Putin invaders is war mongering.

It's Putin that is the war mongerer in that conflict.

Trump may have many flaws, as do most of us, but rest assured he is most certainly not an idiot.
