Advice on Upgrading to the New Honda ADV350

Featured Replies

Hello Gentlemen,

I’m considering upgrading from my old PCX to the new ADV350 scooter and would love your advice. When is the 2025 model expected to arrive?

What color would you recommend for the ADV350? I want something that stands out and looks stylish.

I also plan to pay cash upfront for the new model and would like to know what type of insurance coverage would be best for a scooter like this.

For accessories, I’m thinking of installing a crash bar, two extra fog lights, and a footpad. Are these good choices, or are there other accessories you’d recommend to improve safety and comfort?

I’m thrilled that we already enjoy a 30% discount compared to Europe, Malaysia, and other regions, so this feels like a fantastic opportunity to upgrade.

Thank you for your insights!

Ya dude

great plan all around.

Those ventilating mesh seat covers

are the bestest & cheep.

Hopefully would fit that fat-ass seat.

I recommend those bright blue headlights. Always classy.

Any recommendations for crash bars?

I bought a brand new ADV350 in December 2024 and happily got rid of it 3 weeks ago. I rode 15k km around the country, so got a pretty good feel for it. Absolutely useless off road, but that was no surprise. Power on the highway wasn't bad, seat and handlebar position were comfortable.

The main problem is the foot position and floorboard height. If your inseam is over 30 inches you're going to suffer on long rides. The machine is also ridiculously heavy for such low power. The wide handlebars suck, yes suck, in traffic. Fuel economy was OK until going over 100. At 140 it sucked fuel like a humvee. Maintenance prices are over the top. My Click costs 200 baht for an oil change; the ADV was 1,200 baht.

You'll want a hook or two mounted on the bars to carry a bag of groceries. There is no storage on the right side (like the cubby on the Click) so good luck carrying a bottle of water or anything you want to grab at a traffic light. There is no grommet between the usb plug and exterior of the compartment that houses it, so you'll crush the charging cord if using it while your phone in in the holder.

Honda is getting complacent. I've looked at one of those Chinese scooters (Zontes?) and far more thought was put into that design than into the ADV350. A big one is flip out pegs so you can stand up or use a non foot forward seating position. I wouldn't buy any Chinese bike, but I've got to commend them for putting effort into their designs.

Having owned an Adv 350 for three years, I completely agree with this assessment, and I miss my old PCX.

Furthermore, the high seat height makes the bike difficult to control in traffic jams, and there are currently no flat seats available to allow taller riders to be comfortable on long journeys.

I bought a new ADV 350 when they first came out - sold it 6m later .... too big and bulky for riding round Pattaya - Was ok for "rides out", but a geared bike like a Honda CB500F, would be far far better .....

Have ridden a Zontes 368G back to back to an ADV 350 (out of town) .... pretty much identical performance, round the twisties ADV 350 better ... standard equipment level on the Zontes way way higher then the ADV .....

But for me, around pattaya and for shopping, The Click 160 ticks all the boxes ....

Thankfully I stored my Click instead of selling it when getting the ADV. I've been back on the Click and loving it.

If I was still living in Bangkok, I'd just stay with my Honda SH150i, but now I live out in the sticks so don't have to struggle with traffic jams and very busy streets. I have looked into both the Zontes and the ADV 350, and, as you say, the equipment on the Zontes is superior, but the nearest service center for me would be about 160 kms away, compared to Honda which is less than a km away. Also, Hondas seem to be very well made and last a really long time, whereas the data on the Zontes in this regard is very limited.
