It is. It's not your country. You have zero rights and zero say. It all started with those retarded hippies complaining about 7/11 bags.

Enjoy more paperwork for literally nothing.

Fortunately what I think is happening is that all the woke wokensteins have actually moved out of Canada to spread their gospel. It might be a decent place to live now.

Tax dodger?

I'm not worried at all about any new taxes in Thailand.  I would bet you would fall into the category that earns income and resides here to avoid paying taxes on that income.  If you have paid taxes in another country, I would chill and wait and see.  Doubt your tax bill will more than zero assuming you aren't a freeloader.    Severe anxiety sucks dude!

It's not taxes, it's paperwork that annoys me.

I signed up for yearly visa extensions and 90 day reports which I don't do, just pay a fine.

That makes sense and depending on the paperwork, it could become a real  hassle.  What is the fine for not doing the 90 day reporting?

If you are healthy enough it's quite easy to bounce between a few countries annually. I used to do it until I met my wife and was subsequently married 2 years later.

This does get more difficult as one ages. Especially if they've spent a lifetime traveling or just the opposite have no travel experience. Certainly if I was in my 50s I wouldn't be sticking around.

Maybe, but you have to steer clear of Toronto and all the big cities ruled by the radical woke leftists.

My mates in Alberta and Saskatchewan tell me that the cities in those provinces are the way to go, under the radar.

No one in Candada cares about those cities. You can get away with anything.

The tax is not new, they just never enforced on foreigners staying here, that weren't working here.

Or apparently, even Thais, that brought money in from outside Thailand, apparently.

I guess now that they need more tax revenue, and now may have the means to collect, will attempt to pump up the coffers.

I agree with all the above.  As for most of us living here off of saving, this will IMO be a nothing burger 🙂  Could be wrong but what is the point of worrying about something that we really have no way of forecasting the final outcome.

For a couple years now these debates have been happening which is entertaining.  I'll miss them but still think this topic has ways to run.

I will enter mine tommorow on the PC and pay zero.

If 90 day report is too much for someone then better leave.

I am fed up with scaremongering thread Nr 999.

When will first suicide be reported?

I do nothing.

No requirement for tax return at immigration. Until then I wait

Agreed but am I the only one that enjoys other people becoming unglued. Not that I'm proud of my behavior but these threads always brighten up my day.

Just hang about a bit, it will soon get back to better than normal as exemplified by the 7-11 "no plastic bag" farce, it didn't last long, there's more than ever now, freely given out, the tax b0llocks will go the same way.

You telling me they aren't charging me 2 baht any longer. You look at your receipt?

Something else that has occurred to me.

The Chinese with all of their kidnappings both kidnapper and victim, the fake corporations, calls centers, general crimes then on top of this all of the other drama from the Chinese. I think that rather than being a cash cow they are an extreme draw on the Thai government coffers.

Moreover, whether it's on a number of Thai news blogs or here on asean now it seems not a day goes by that a serious fight resulting in serious injury and additionally some form of foreign death reported. These are now daily occurrences. Letting in all these miscreants is actually costing the government money.

Meanwhile, most married people over 50 just minding their own business and supporting the wife and perhaps even her family.
