Has Elon Musk become an existential threat to humanity?

I also wonder how Elon Musk will be remembered 50 years from now. Innovator or destructor? And will all of his developments with technology, knowing that he never actually invented anything, be viewed as substantial or pedestrian?

We can't predict the future.

One big problem is that as far as I know no private person was ever as rich as Musk.

How can we or anybody else guess what is on that guy's mind. I read somewhere that if 1 meter would be 1 dollar then he would have enough money for the distance to Mars and back. That is soooooooo much money that nobody can really understand it.

So, what will Musk do? What is on his mind? There is nobody who we can ask who might know.

It's not only about his money that will shape the future but, as Sam Harris pointed out, it's all the platforming he does of misinformation, disinformation, conspiracies, hoaxes, and what seems to be his wholesale distorted view of reality.

Personally, I think there is a good chance that he could be remembered as a destructor and not a creator. Many people start out on the right course doing some seemingly great things, but then eventually turn to the dark side, which is what they are remembered for in the end.

Names like Julius Caesar, Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini come to mind. And let's of course not forget Anakin Skywalker.

He has the money to change the world, and change it significantly, in many ways.

That is very scary.

Maybe he will develop Skynet and convince Trump to switch it on to save us all. We can't rule out anything like that.

Sure?

And if you are sure, what makes you sure?

he says there will be billions of humanoid robots at some point.

maybe more robots than humans eventually.

no one knows for sure how this will affect the human race or what these things will be doing exactly.

for now, they're just serving drinks.

It seems like the perfect start to a 2025 Season 7 Black Mirror episode imagined by Musk, where everything eventually spirals out of control. Then, five minutes later, the gun inadvertently starts shooting at the pink balloons, and, well, you can guess how it ends…

Mansa Musa was the richest man in history, and much more "liquid" than Elon.

Few of these modern rich people are quite as rich as they are portrayed. Remember that most of their "wealth" in tied up in the shares of the companies they founded/own. If Elon attempted to access all of his wealth, the required share sales would tank the stock price, wiping out a majority, if not virtually all, of their supposed wealth. It does provide leverage in terms of the debt to which they have access, but even that is limited.

Anyone who believes that Musk, Bezos, or Zuckerberg are more consequential that the myriad other "players" on the world stage do not fully appreciate the "competition" that is going on at that level. Most of these folks are but one miscalculation away from ruin.

Elon has accomplished some amazing things. He has demonstrated amazing buffoonery. In short, he is quite human.

In the grand scheme of history, Elon is but a blip.

There are much scarier characters out there, in my opinion.

Would it be (legally) possible in the US to cancel the citizenship of a naturalized citizen?

Once DT feels EM has outlived his usefulness he'll seek a device to get him out of the picture.  He's been sending signals since last month.

In modern times, money means worldwide influence. Who knew Mansa Musa at the other end of the world at that time? Probably nobody. Is there any place on earth where people don't know Elon Musk? Maybe some grandparents who never used the internet.

See how much influence Musk has with X. Would Trump have been elected if Musk would not have bought Twitter? Obviously, I don't know the answer, but for sure this made a difference, probably a decisive difference.

Recently there was news that Musk might buy the American TikTok.

Some people laugh about TikTok and Facebook and Insta and all that. And in a way I think it is laughable. What is not laughable or should not be ignored is how many people get their news from these platforms. Many!

And everybody who controls the news controls a lot in the internet age.

Add to that upcoming AI and other technologies and that gives Musk more influence and power than anybody else on earth. And it will likely get worse.

He was a hero when was a technological innovator like Steve Jobs and by his providing of internet, power, and drinking water to disaster zones. Now he's morphed into a deluded and oversized megalomaniac with madman aspirations, both politically and socially, and an agenda to eventually disrupt the greater well being of humanity.

1. Describe the madman aspirations

2. Decribe the agenda and how it will eventually disrupt the greater well being of humanity.
