They need to be banned and put down, you cannot train aggression out of them, and they are all a threat to life

Bit of a harsh assessment of the orange robed fraternity….

Monk with a car is nothing. I remember reading about a monk that has a private JET.

I suspect things like that get put on the temple accounts so the abbot theoretically doesn't 'own' them.

Not first nor last occurrence. Happens all the time, chemical castration of all the soi dogs. Pit bulls are dangerous and should be controlled who can have them or not. A license should be required for such dogs

Why is a monk in possession of a car? Does not seem to accord with the vow of poverty.

Pit bulls and similar breeds are inherently bred for aggression and territorial defence, and need to be properly trained and controlled, or preferably not bred at all.

Unlike GSDs, terriers, labradors, retrievers and Malinois, they serve no useful purpose. Thailand has too many stray and uncontrolled dogs already without allowing these vanity breeds. Time to ban them as so many other countries have already done.

Always thought that pitbulls were a banned breed in Thailand. Maybe this dog was trained to protect the deceased s valuables.

Pit bulls need to be walked extensively, 3 times a day. Very few people, in Thailand or in any other country, are ready and willing to do this.  The raising of pit bulls should therefore be banned world-wide, and the breed allowed to die out.

Aren’t they already a banned breed in Thailand? Any Thai police on this thread?

All pit-bulls should be eradicated. I hate those pitbulls. Normally, people use them as bodyguards, not like normal pets.

I live in Thailand and have had pit bulls for 15 years , first two killed by cobra snakes, now have two , fantastic dogs, very friendly, great with people, even all our builders workers like them and are not afraid.
it is purely how you raise them and how much exercise they get-and interaction with people! I don’t “ use” them as bodyguards, and to say all should be eradicated, just shows your ignorance!

It IS the dogs fault, Pitbulls are no more suitable as pets then an alligator, they are DANGEROUS ANIMALS

No, as a pit bull owner for 15 years, I totally disagree, all of my dogs would lick you , not bite you, that poor monk was just given a problem dog, and he had no idea what to do! Sad but that’s the truth!
people kill 25000 people here with cars, trucks and bikes, want to ban all of that too?

That the dog breed need to be banned, there is no doubt about.

What I react to, is posters here who post like below:

That just reeks of poor knowledge. There is nothing unusual with monks that owns cars. They are everywhere. If the Thais not question their spiritual leaders regarding that, who are we to do it?

Exactly..  Farlangs have this fantasy where all monks live in caves, starving to death, contemplating their navel.  I'm saying if the local population who regularly visit these monks at their temples, have no objection with monks owning computers, cell phones, cars, then who are we to complain and tell them how their monks should behave.

What ! only 3 pages so far about yet another tragedy?

Must be getting used to the sad events, and nothing is being done, and all the lament in these posts doesnt mean a thing.

And there are still those who insist they MUST be trained properly. (or they'll naturallly default to become killers).

Open your eyes at the way many animals are treated here nearly all dogs are territorial here ! Many Thais keep guard dogs like pitbulls rottweilers etc no training only food and water by there masters, are you aware that many dogs and unwanted puppies especially problematic dogs are taken and dropped at temples all around

I doubt anyone would disagree with your comment however your reasoning  looks past the fact that all pitbulls need to be banned and neutered so they eventually die out. This dog will attack again. Next time it might be someone's child!

Some years back the monkhood asked that the populace  stop dropping litters off at the temple. My partners cousin , alone, had left approx. 10+ in the last 18 months. and does so every year on a regular basis.

The show of dogs running around the temple is just a front, if all the dogs dropped at the temple were kept there would be thousands upon thousands at every temple.

Some people actually realise that, others just ignore the reality of what really happens to these litters.

Because "we ". well most of us. have attained a degree of intelligence and knowledge that enables and permits us to ?

So, in other words you are saying Thais do not have a degree of intelligence or knowledge. You have, so you are entitled to.

First, I must ask why in the world are you interested of making discussions here, if you do not respect the people in the country the forum is about? Maybe you even live in Thailand. In that case, I feel sad for the Thais that have to be around you.

Second, this is not your country. If you are living in Thailand, you are a guest. In reality, not entitled to anything. Neither do you have more knowledge nor understanding of Thai culture than the Thai people. In other word, you are just posting total crap and B.S.

We are talking about a Pitbull here. Same as Rottweiler and other fighting dog breeds. You can spend how much time you like posting that they must be trained and other rubbish. We all know they are ticking bombs, that are totally unpredictable and can attack at any given second. The sensible thing to do, is to eradicate these breeds from the planet. Preferably before it´s too late, as they now start to spread into the stray dog population as well.

While you go on with that they must be trained, you of course have a point. Naturally, it will be better with a trained dog, than an untrained. That goes for all breeds and for all types of animals. However, both you and me know that is not the fact, as many people just let their animals be except for give water and food. Some also let them run free, which is very common in Thailand. That makes them cross breed and merge into the population of strays. So, in Thailand it´s definitely needed to ban and eradicate the aggressive breeds.

Just because something is common, it does not make it right or OK.

We are free to question anything we want.  If we want to share an observation or opinion on Thai politics, crime or religion, who are you to say we cannot?

If Thai culture and Thai people accepts it, then there is neither anything wrong.

I never said you can´t question. I posed the question, who are we to do it?

Well,   no pity here as Thais will never learn.  They allow soi dogs to roam free on beaches and the streets everywhere just ready to bite and attack the elderly or kids.
