Motorbikes on Beach "Walkway"

Featured Replies

These people are still talking about the lowlifes riding motorbikes on the beach walk. I went up to city hall and complained about no enforcement for the postings along this glorified road promenade outlawing and fines for these jerks. They keep on about attracting quality here and do nothing about it

And what did you expect would happen?

About all they do up there is turn the lights on. After all look what they did to the walkway. As is now compared to before:Screenshot_2025-01-22-10-19-04-846_com_miui.gallery.thumb.jpg.228592e9a549f275018484449d57d56f.jpg

Not just a problem with Pattaya.  I remember the first time my Thai spouse and I were in Bangkok, years ago when I first arrived.  I noticed 3 green iron poles spaced across the sidewalk at intervals where we were walking.  I turned to him and said, 'I don't know what the city was thinking.  The poles are spaced way to wide apart from each other to prevent a motorcycle from driving between them on the sidewalk.'  He replied, 'Silly, the poles aren't to prevent motorcycles from driving on the sidewalk, they're to stop cars from driving on the sidewalks.'   Oh, ok.  Noted.  And, yes, when we walk in Bangkok on the sidewalks we have to be alert for motorcycles or they'll run right over us.

I kinda accepted it when even the police were riding on beach road pavement

The poster needs to chill you aint back in the home country anymore, I got my leg burnt once when a p.r.c.k on a motor bike on the footpath in BKK zoomed past me zig zagging between pedestrians, frigging hurt but he didnt care.

Dont know why you think they even think they have issues to sort out here, Thai style is "just accept" Ive given up on getting moody over the pot holed roads of Pattaya, getting thrown around on my bike, I splashed out and bought a tread mill after tripping once to often on there s.h.i.t footpaths...

Long weekend, events, I hole up in my condo till its over.

You could have saved yourself the journey and just called 1337, you know?

I went up to city hall and complained.

I think the Pattaya Police on Beach Road next.  Some think the City and Police read This Forum, they don't.

You have to have multiple people complain many times to get action most times.

Next ask the City and Police to walk down the footpath around Festival Central and tell the people and businesses to

"Remove any signs and merchandise on the foot path"

Like mentioned most Don't care. If you have to walk over, around, into the street, trip over merchandise, they will only do something when told by Police or the City because they can fine or close their business temporarily.

People actually going to City Hall to complain about bikes on beach road footpath 😆 I think you may be living in the wrong country if that's got you so riled up.

I walk beach road path nearly every morning and it's a lot less bikes than say 5-10 years ago. There may be the odd random, but most of the bikes I see are carrying food to the beach chair groups and they seem careful. I'm always more concerned with Falang push bike riders on the path than the Thai food carriers on mopeds

I've been sitting in a beach road bar for 4 hours today and not a single Motorbike has ridden past on the footpath. Could it be OP's complaint to City Hall worked, or maybe there was no complaint needed as it's not a problem?
