Between January 20th and 26th, the Metropolitan Police arrested 25 youths, mostly students, and seized a large cache of weapons during raids across nine locations in Bangkok. The confiscated items included 11 home-made pistols, 8 pen guns, ammunition, and 35 knives.
Pol Col Sitthichai Srisophacharoenrat, deputy commander of the 4th division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, announced that the raids aimed to prevent street violence between rival student groups. He noted a decrease in student violence over recent years due to proactive police engagement with schools and parents.
Despite this progress, Pol Col Sitthichai expressed concern that some students remain influenced by seniors who encourage them to protect their institutions' honor through physical confrontations.
