webfact Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Picture courtesy: Matichon The Royal Thai Police have suspended several officers following their involvement in the abduction and extortion of seven Chinese nationals. The incident came to light when reports emerged that members of the Special Branch, Border Patrol Police, and paramilitary rangers allegedly kidnapped the group and demanded a ransom of 2 million baht. The victims were held at Irene Resort in Ubon Ratchathani, where authorities later arrested eight suspects. Among them were three police officers, one ranger, and several civilians, including a Myanmar national. The police confiscated four vehicles used in the crime, including two Toyota Hilux trucks. The ordeal began on 23rd January, with one of the victims managing to secretly contact a friend in Laos via mobile phone, alerting them to their location. This information was then relayed to Thai police, prompting a rescue operation. The suspects allegedly used a translation app to intimidate the victims into paying a reduced ransom of 500,000 baht each. In the end, 3 million baht was exchanged for their release. The National Police Chief, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panpetch, has ordered strict legal and disciplinary action against those involved, with further instructions for their immediate dismissal, reported Matichon. -- 2025-01-27 1 1

Popular Post Briggsy Posted 12 hours ago Popular Post Posted 12 hours ago You open your doors to Chinese, you open your doors to Chinese mafia, you open your doors to Chinese crime. "further instructions for immediate dismissal" is very rare for police. The order must have come from very high within the CCP. 1 3
Popular Post lordgrinz Posted 11 hours ago Popular Post Posted 11 hours ago The RTP doing business as usual, corrupt to the core, and dabbling in all aspects of illegality. The Royal Thai Mafia doing what it does best, at this point nothing surprises me. 1 1 3

They're a disgrace to the uniform and the profession. Even though many may try to be decent cops they're hobbled because the problem is systemic. The 'police' force is so corruptly constructed, beginning with the bribes to even take the entry exams, the need to purchase one's own equipment for godz sakes, that it encourages this kind of criminal and immoral behavior from the lowliest traffic shyster to the biggest jokes of all. 1
Oliver Holzerfilled Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Got a feeling we aren't getting the whole story here. How did this group get on the coppers radar? Possibly up to their eyeballs in something illegal and the coppers wanted a slice of the pie. 1
