Fire Rages for Four Hours in Bang Khun Thian, Three Injured

A four-hour fire engulfed a row of townhouses in Bangkok's Bang Khun Thian district, leaving three injured and a man having a lucky escape after climbing to the rooftop and pouring water from a tank over himself to escape the flames. 

 

At 14:15 on 26 January, Lieutenant Sathon Rabiebpho, Deputy Investigator at Thian Talay Police Station, received a report of a fire at a commercial building located at No. 31, Soi Thian Talay 26. The structure, a three-storey townhouse registered as a partnership business dealing in plastic parts for motorcycles, quickly became engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to three adjacent units under the same company's management.

 

Firefighters from Bangkok's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation battled the intense blaze for over four hours before finally bringing it under control.

 

Three individuals suffered minor injuries and were rescued by emergency responders. They were given first aid on the scene before being transferred to Bang Khun Thian Hospital for further treatment.

 

Mr Paisan, the 43-year-old business owner, stated that the cause of the fire remains unclear. He mentioned that welding work had previously been conducted in the building but could not confirm whether it was linked to the incident. 

 

During the blaze, one of his employees, later identified as Mr Kriangsak Suansamran, aged 57, was unaccounted for, causing concern among both authorities and his family.

 

Mr Kriangsak was later found alive and reunited with his two sons, who had been anxiously awaiting updates. He described his harrowing ordeal, explaining that as the fire broke out, he fled to the rooftop in search of safety. Unable to see due to thick smoke, he discovered a water tank near a mango tree and began pouring water over himself to relieve the heat. Fortunately, the rooftop provided some breathable air, allowing him to survive until he was rescued.

 

"I ran to the rooftop to escape the fire, but the smoke was so dense that I couldn't see a way out. I found the water tank and kept pouring water on myself when the heat became unbearable," Mr Kriangsak recounted, relieved to have survived and reunited with his sons.

 

Authorities are now gathering evidence and coordinating with forensic specialists to determine the exact cause of the fire. Further inspections will be conducted to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident.
