At approximately 15:30 on 27 January, a collision between a gas delivery pickup truck and a sugarcane lorry caused chaos on the Saraburi-Lom Sak Road, outbound towards Bangkok, in front of a sugar factory in Moo 3, Nong Chaeng Subdistrict, Bueng Sam Phan District, Phetchabun Province.

The Sawang Bueng Sam Phan Thammasathan rescue team (Nong Chaeng unit) was alerted to the incident by the emergency department of Bueng Sam Phan Hospital. Upon arrival at the scene, they found two damaged vehicles, a silver LPG delivery pickup truck and a sugarcane lorry and debris scattered across the roadside.

The force of the collision had caused the pickup to roll onto its side down an embankment, causing multiple LPG cylinders to be thrown across the crash site, creating a potentially hazardous situation for first responders and other road users. However, no leaks or fires were reported, and emergency services worked swiftly to secure the area and prevent further danger.

Two individuals, both 60 years old, were injured in the crash:

• A woman suffered abrasions across her body and swelling to her head.

• A man complained of pain in his rib area, likely from the impact.

Both victims were conscious and responsive when rescue volunteers arrived. The team provided immediate first aid at the scene before transporting the injured to Bueng Sam Phan Hospital for further medical attention.

Local authorities and rescue personnel from the sugar factory were also on hand to assist in clearing the debris and ensuring road safety.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the collision and initial investigation suggests the pickup ran into, at speed, the sugarcane lorry as it was slowing down to turn into the factory.
