The restaurant owner told the media that the foreign couple showed him a message on their mobile phone. The message read…

“We are foreigners and have no money. Could you give us money, food, or necessary items?”

Phone has to be worth some baht.... I would have offered to exchange the phone for food.

"DEPORT"-Looks like Phuket has become a Cesspool of Russians problems thanks to Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) policies.

Soon it will be a “Chinese” problem in Pattaya with the exported inflation, crime and Chinese style corruption..

Looks like we are left with Hua Hin and Krabi..😔

Aaah, now they understand that there's an issue.

I've been pointing out this issue for a while now.

Lowlife foreigners, ruining my great life in Thailand.

Israelis not paying???? Unheard of

I've only experienced a few encounters with Russian and Israeli over the years and found the Israelis obnoxious. This was on a bus from chiangmai to Bk, I bought a ticket from a travel agency, the bus leaked, broke down in the middle of nowhere and when it did finally arrive in Bangkok the passengers mainly Israelis bag's had been robbed, not mine I had my backpack with me,the bag's were stored below. The Israeli people on board were the most rude obnoxious lot I've ever come across .

Never travel on these busses, stick to the govt ones.

The current war in Ukraine is atrackting these people to avoid the meatgrinder, can't blame them really for that, but it's not good for Thailand

Those local restaurants should hire some trannys to corner them in an alley and kick their arses.

They already have plenty of experience in trashing drunk Farangs for free.

There is no money it for them, like most Thai's, they need a monetary reason to commit to any action.

The article refers to a Russian couple.  (Maybe they were not)

The massage parlor person  assumed her customers were Israelis. (Maybe they were not)

Too often people assume that some accents are specific to certain countries. Most of the service industry Thais  have no idea of where some countries are located or the languages that are spoken there. My friend some years back, thought I was a German , despite knowing me at the time  for 10 years and knowing the city I was born in.

Based on what are the accused "believed to be Russian nationals"? Given the total number of visitors from a particular country - here Russia - does not automatically mean, that all Russians are croo*ks. How does the "Russian percentage" compare to the "Thai percentage" of cheaters, law breakers and outright criminals?

The visa exemption facilitates travelers but has no impact on the "quality" as the costs are literally identical - except the hustle on compiling, submitting and waiting for a visa against a sometimes steep fee. Latter is more relevant to family travels; a family of five with five visa fees might consider that a decision-making point.

Scumbags come from all backgrounds, countries and income levels, so how can this possibly have anything to do with the visa free nonsense mentioned in the article?

The others blamed the visa-free scheme for allowing foreign visitors to enter the country too easily, leading to an influx of what they described as low-quality foreigners in tourist areas.

Stricter visa rules are required, especially for nationals of some countries including China, Korea, Nigeria, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and some other countries not mentioned here. Visa free scheme should be abolished. A proper entry visa should be obtained in their country of citizenship prior to entering Thailand, including criminal background checks, bank account checks and possibly also mental health checks.

I'd show them my own message.

As an American visiting Thailand on a 90-day visa, I noticed in October and November that many local Thais expressed concerns about Russian tourists not tipping in restaurants and being perceived as unfriendly.   Foreigners, regardless of their visa type, are not permitted to work in Thailand unless they have been granted a work permit. To be eligible for a work permit, individuals must hold the appropriate visa, typically a Non-Immigrant Visa. Not paying for food should be thrown out.

Not correct !!!!

citizens from certain countries can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days for tourism, business engagements, or urgent work,

This has nothing to do with free visas.  Just lack of enforcement of laws.   Enforce the laws and change the penalty.  Any minor infraction is visa cancellation.  No drivers license- go home. No helmet - go home. No pay- go home.  Murder or rape - atay for life.

Sieg Heil...

Good notion of freedom my dear you should go and experience North Korea you would perfectly fit there...

There is no visa free scheme, it is an abuse of language... Visa Free means that you could stay as long as you wish in a determined country. Thailand has a visa exemption scheme for westerners 60 days then can reapply for 30 days but no visa free scheme...
