A road crash on Soi Nern Plub Wan in Nong Prue, near Pattaya,  left one woman dead and another seriously injured late night on 28 January. The incident involved a Toyota Fortuner driven by a 19-year-old British-Thai man and a red Yamaha Grand Filano motorcycle carrying two riders.

At approximately 23:05 Pol Lt. Damchalouay Samkanying, Deputy Inspector of Nong Prue Police Station, received a report of a collision between a car and a motorcycle near Soi Mab Yailia 49. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the silver Toyota Fortuner, registration from Bangkok, with  front-end damage. It had collided with the red Yamaha Grand Filano, registration number from Chonburi, which was wrecked on the road.

The motorcycle rider, identified as Ms. Kulthida, 19, and her passenger Ms. Thassanee, sustained critical injuries. Rescue workers rushed them to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Ms. Thassanee succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Fortuner, driven by Mr. Lewis 19, was allegedly travelling at speed, honking aggressively to overtake other vehicles before striking the motorcycle. The impact sent both the riders and the bike flying and dragged them more than 100 metres along the road.

Footage from CCTV cameras confirmed the Fortuner overtaking a car at high speed before colliding head-on with the motorcycle, causing sparks and dragging the wreckage along the road.

Pol Lt. Damchalouay took Mr. Lewis into custody and conducted a breathalyser test, which found no alcohol in his system. Investigators are reviewing the footage and gathering additional evidence to determine whether reckless driving charges will be filed.

The body of the deceased will be handed over to her family for funeral rites, while the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continues.

Given that 73% of the road fatalities in Thailand are motorbike riders, statistically, you are 50% more likely to be killed in a car crash in the USA

Death Penalty needed Thailand, to stop these crimes. This urchin deserves death Penalty to send notice to others who don't care about others. RIP to the victims.

Typical foreigner behaving badly, loads of these idiots on Soi Buakhou.

The only surprise is his age, I hope he enjoys Thailand prisons.

It says British -Thai, so not totally foreign. Maybe  he lives, or even grew up in Thailand.

No excuse for driving like that. I 've never been to Pattaya, but I thought the Police there were clamping down on bad driving due to the number of accidents.

His parents might be in for a large compensation bill.

Should have checked him for drugs, crazy some of these young falang riders, probably the same in cars

He's half Thai, so not a Falang.

He wasn't a rider, either, as scubascuba3 seemed to think, he was one of those in a car!

Show your work and post real numbers per 100k of population.

Another factor is the hours driven by Americans. Maybe more accidents but they're spending more hours a day driving and covering more miles.

The real test would be how likely you are to die per 100k of population for driving 100 miles of distance, or in other words how many miles do 100k people have to drive before one of them dies in a crash.
