Remember in the Debate when Romney claimed Russian was the greatest geopolitical threat, and Obama scoffing and joking; Senator, the '80s called and want their foreign policy back. 

Remember Obama caught on a hot mike begging Putin for "space" until after the election in exchange for canceling missile defense, and Obama cancelling missile defense after he was reelected. 

Remember the "Russian Reset".

Remember Obama's refusal to sell defensive weapons to Ukraine.

Remember Obama did nothing in 2014 when Putin invaded and began the occupation of Crimea. 

 

Then Trump places sanctions on Russia. 

Then Trump kills 200 of Russia's Wagner Group mercenaries in Syria.

Then Trump begins shipping arms, including Javelin missiles to Ukraine. 

 

Now remember Biden cancelling sanctions on Russia, including those imposed by Trump to gain favor with Putin. 
Now remember Biden halting arms sales to Ukraine to gain favor with Putin. 
Now remember Biden's surrender debacle in Afghanistan, emboldening Putin. 
Now remember Biden saying that the US would not respond to Russia invading Ukraine, if it were only a minor invasion, further emboldening Putin. 

 

When did the left start caring about Ukraine anyways? The left seemed to care nothing about Ukraine until it became politically expedient for them to use in attacking Trump and to pretend Trump was a Russian asset. 

 

The American left would rather see every Ukrainian dead and half of Europe flattened than to see a peace agreement negotiated by Trump.

one of our group stopped some serious orc attack today.. they said they got at least 8-9 vehicles including tank and APCs and got probably 15 orcs.. obviously group stopped.

 

well.. my squad is going to kiev tomorrow.. our R&R starts...

The previous leader of America behaved very rudely with the Russians, believing that America was above this. Tovarisch Trump agreed to equal negotiations. However, such harmful American ideas as the introduction of NATO troops into Ukraine still sound from his lips. Vladimir does not like this very much and is looking for a way to gradually convince Tovarisch Trump of the correctness of Z ideas. However, this takes time - so Vladimir is in no hurry.

It's about the us taking control of Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

Trump is transactional, give him the rights to a busted Nuclear power plant to give him some skin in the game and he'll be crowing about the best deal ever.

The power plant has been under Russian control since the start...Ukraine has repeatedly shelled it trying to cause a disaster  they also blew up a dam providing cooling water,  but the plant has backup  and I believe the reactors are in a dormant state but still need constant supervision.

 The IAEA seem quite satisfied that the Russians are looking after the plant properly.

The basic outlines of a deal to end the fighting are obvious even if details remain to be negotiated, as Trump and Putin started doing today in a phone call. Russia will continue to occupy Crimea and other portions of the southeast, while the rest of Ukraine will not join NATO but will get security guarantees from some western countries. The sad thing is that such a plan could have been achieved at least two years ago if only President Biden had made military aid conditional on Zelensky negotiating a ceasefire.

The recklessness of Ukrainiain actions at some point have been predicated on enlarging the conflict to draw in NATO thank god they failed.

I think that President Trump actually does not care about enduring peace in Ukraine. What he really cares about is fostering a new relationship with Vladimir Putin, just like he did when he was president the first time around. So restoring relations with Russia, I think is actually the first objective and peace in Ukraine is a second or tertiary objective.
