The President of Upper Volta with a gas station attached (I’ve always had a problem with that anecdote, but let’s leave it there) somehow controls the President of the United States who, lest we forget, was twice voted into power by the American electorate. It’s more absurd and darker than anything any novelist could ever have imagined. Putin holds the cards cards he has quietly passed to Xi. He is the capo dei capi and soon enough Taiwan will be in his grasp. That's on the cards I feel it in my bones.

You're right. It's beyond fiction. Well, at least we live in interesting times.

Democracy works until it doesn't and then it can spectacularly go into reverse.

Vlad is doing everything he can to help his friend Comrade Trump fix democracy.

“Mail-in ballots are corrupt. Mail-in ballots, you can never have a real democracy with mail-in ballots,” the president said, firing off a torrent of falsehoods about voter fraud.
“You know, Vladimir Putin said something — one of the most interesting things. He said, ‘Your election was rigged because you have mail-in voting.’ He said, ‘It’s impossible to have mail-in voting and have honest elections,” Trump told Sean Hannity on Fox News immediately after the summit.

Read this closely it's enligtenning for what they admit but with an obvious spin and the admittance in the title that Ukarine shot deserters. NATO army this ain't.

Deserters used to be shot – now they’re coming to Ukraine’s rescue - Kyiv is recruiting women and foreign fighters and protecting the ones it already has

For the past year and a half, Oleksandr has not set foot out of his home. The 36-year-old is now afraid of going outside. He fears being drafted and dying in a trench.
“I feel guilty for not joining the army,” Oleksandr admits. “But I’m not ashamed to say that I’m scared of joining the infantry. The shortage of men is huge, and many new mobilised end up there.”
He is not alone. Like him, around 800,000 men have gone underground, changing address or working off the books, according to Dmytro Natalukha, head of the committee on economic development in Ukraine’s parliament.

So what's your point with this?

Ukraine has human beings in it and like any country has many cowards not happy to step up during a time of crisis? Like every other country ever.

Canadian Prime Minister (PM) Mark Carney, who arrived in Ukraine for the first time, was shown components of Russian weapons. Most of the weapon parts are of Western or Chinese origin, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence reports.

Among the items displayed were machine vision and artificial intelligence systems, lidars, CRP antennas, mesh modems, as well as downed Russian drones - Shahed and Delta.

According to intelligence officials, most components of Russian weapons are of Western or Chinese origin, clearly demonstrating the critical dependence of Russia’s military-industrial complex on imported equipment and parts.

Canada’s PM sees captured Russian weapons and evidence of import dependence in Kyiv

More than three years after President Vladimir Putin sent Russian forces into Ukraine, the conflict has settled into a prolonged stalemate, with a clear resolution still out of reach. Meanwhile, signs of fatigue and frustration are becoming increasingly apparent among Russian troops locked in relentless combat.

Russian soldiers, now weary and disillusioned, are increasingly abandoning their posts, leading to a significant rise in desertions from military units in Ukraine.

However, it isn't just war exhaustion that is leading to Russian soldiers deserting their posts. Some want out because they believe that the war they are fighting is unfair or because they feel that they have been sent to the slaughterhouse.

So would you go and fight if your were of age - answer truthfully and you would go to the front line , without air defences basically under a barrage of drones and FAB bombs  ? I wouldn't under any circumstances that I see in Ukraine , nor would I encourage any others to do so on my behalf. Calling someone a coward is a big call especially so from someone who I'm guessing has never fought and had a good life far away from jeopardy.

According to a report from the Ukrainian military news outlet Militarnyi, drone operators from Ukraine's Sons of Khors unit struck a rare 9S932-1 reconnaissance and control module.

The recon and control module vehicle is part of the rare Russian Barnaul-T air defense system. Only a small handful of these weapons had ever been produced, and an even smaller number have been eliminated in the war so far, according to one open source intelligence group.

As of August 18th, the Dutch open-source intelligence project Oryx could visually verify that at least three Barnaul-T systems have been destroyed since Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has confirmed that Baku has supported Ukraine's territorial integrity since the beginning of the Russian invasion, AZERTAC reports.

Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan consistently opposes any form of separatism and upholds the principle of state unity not only on paper but also in practice - not only legal unity and border control, but also physical unity, emphasizing the importance of effective political institutions in the country.

"Azerbaijan as a country which suffered from violation of territorial integrity supports territorial integrity of all the countries, and our position on that is straightforward. And again, coming back to what we discussed about Azerbaijan-Russian relations, we, from the very first days of Russian invasion to Ukraine, supported Ukraine's territorial integrity and continue to support it," he said.

The main strength of the Shahed drones is their sheer number. In order to maintain constant pressure and to keep up these waves of drone attacks, Russia has been building new infrastructure.

Now, there are Shahed launch sites dotted along the borders of Russian territory. Russian investigative group Oko Gora counted 11 different Russian sites for launching Shahed drones.

Russia’s main hub for launching Shahed drones is at Tsimbulova base near the town of Oryol, located 170 km northeast of Ukraine. Nicknamed “the airport” by the Ukrainians, the base has eight launch sites on the ground as well as a stretch of road measuring 2.8 kilometres where drones can be launched from vehicles. This means that 14 drones can be launched simultaneously, creating a total of nearly a hundred per night, according to the Ukrainian investigative group DniproOsint.

Its worth repeating that Stellantis has denied selling Russia these Ram trucks. Its also worth noting that these trucks are equipped with Uconnect and a telematics package. They need a GPS option to be activated to be tracked. However, since 2021, the system allows over the air updates. In other words, they could be bricked and potentially tracked. Generally this would need cooperation with Stellantis. Besides over the air updates (so corrupt code could be sent to brick the ECU), the system supports remote starting, locking and unlocking (that would be funny, drone operators locked out of the truck). What makes it tricky is the system uses AT&T/Verizon LTE bands, which aren't available in Russia. However, if the trucks seen are actually European spec, the system is different, and can operate in Ukraine.

The Kyiv Independant thinks these trucks were sold through Dubai, as US spec grey imports

But I see a truck with a rectangular, not square, front tag.

UAE spec Dodge truck

UAE-spec vehicles are usually built for Middle Eastern LTE bands, which include:

Band 3 (1800 MHz)

Band 7 (2600 MHz)

Band 20 (800 MHz)

Band 1 (2100 MHz) in some areas

Russian LTE networks generally use Bands 3, 7, 20, and 1 — so UAE-spec telematics modems are much more likely to connect to Russian carriers than U.S.-spec ones. European-spec trucks are also compatible, but UAE-spec trucks may even have firmware optimized for roaming in regions like the Middle East and nearby CIS countries.

Of course the Russian military is not aware of these cell units and is not capable of removing them. And of course, Russian carriers will allow foreign-issued SIM cards to register and freely transfer data in a war zone.

That's a STUPID question.

Nobody knows exactly how they would react to a crisis situation until they're in that situation themselves.

I can relate it to Vietnam though.

I was an active protester against that war.

I was never drafted but I would have dodged that as I was against the war.

North Vietnam did NOT invade and occupy the USA.

They had not stolen American children.
They had not targeted American schools, hospitals, shopping malls, etc.

Genocidal war criminal dictator Putin HAS invaded and occupied Ukraine.

Therefore, it's logical that Ukrainians who are unwilling to help their own nation in such a situation are not the best kind of people as far as character.

Personally I believe if Putin prevails he will use Ukrainians as slaves to go further than Ukraine.

Even more reason to try to stop him now.

You're just playing a cynical flame game with the word coward.

All sane people don't want to die.

Poland expels 63 Ukrainians, Belarusians over concert troubles

"Footage shared online showed spectators storming the arena during Saturday's rap show at the national stadium. Local media reported there were 70,000 people there.

Police said in a statement that "officers detained 109 people for numerous offences and crimes such as drug possession, assaulting security personnel, possession and carrying of pyrotechnic devices, and trespassing on the grounds of a mass event."

Social media images appeared to show a concert-goer waving the flag of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), a guerilla group that aligned itself with Nazi Germany. The symbol is banned under Polish law."

This is the real face of ukrainian nazis. Finally we started to get rid all of those ukrainian filthy pigs from our country.

Fun fact - nowadays most of polish people are feeling more threatened by Ukraine than Russia.

So basically you see ukrainans  (and foreign mercenaries) as insane while trying to send more of them 6 feet under. Happy to hear that.

Worried about what ? Only thing I'm worry about is human lives and decent existance for everyone. Simple as that. What you worry about is if Ukraine can steal or beg enough of money from other countries to kill more people.

Conclusion - I'm empathetic human being, you're just mental caveman who want "kill, kill, kill".

Impossible to believe.

Today, August 28, in the Azov Sea, the Ukrainian military struck a small missile ship of Russia, Buyan-M, which is a carrier of cruise missiles Kalibr. The hit was recorded on video, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR).

As the intelligence officers told, the operation was carried out in the Azov Sea near temporarily occupied Crimea. As a result, a small missile ship of Russia of project 21631 Buyan-M – carrier of cruise missiles Kalibr – was struck.

Fighters of the special unit of HUR Ghosts damaged the ship’s radar system with a strike of an aerial drone, and special forces attacked the side of the Kalibr carrier.
