Thai police have arrested Thanawat, also known as “Benz Tha Sai”, a notorious drug dealer, in a large-scale raid in Mueang Chonburi district, Chonburi province. The operation, carried out under a court-issued search warrant, resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, drugs, and equipment used for producing the synthetic drugs.

The raid was conducted by a joint task force under the direction of Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB), along with senior officers from Chonburi Provincial Police, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) Region 2, and other enforcement units.

The police had been tracking Thanawat’s movements following intelligence gathered during an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. He was found hiding in a house in Khlong Tamru Subdistrict, Mueang Chonburi. Officers surrounded the property and conducted a thorough search, leading to his arrest.

Authorities confiscated a significant cache of weapons and drugs, including:

• Four automatic handguns

• One Derya-brand automatic shotgun

• Four Thai-made rifle components

• A large quantity of ammunition and magazines

• Methamphetamine pills (yaba), crystal methamphetamine (ice), and substances used for producing drugs

• Packaging materials for drug distribution

A background check revealed that Thanawat had a long history of criminal activities, including:

• 2024: Arrested for drug production and distribution in Chokchai district

• 2024: Arrested for armed robbery in Sutthisan district

• 2023: Wanted on an outstanding warrant for drug possession and using drugs while riding a motorcycle under the jurisdiction of the Min Buri Criminal Court

Following his arrest, Thanawat was taken to Mueang Chonburi Police Station for further legal proceedings. Police have also initiated asset seizure measures under the Anti-Narcotics Act, aiming to dismantle his criminal network.

Authorities continue to investigate potential links to other drug syndicates and distributors.
