….and have been for more than 25 years.
When I came to live in Patong in those days, there were already people expressing concerns about this, and it has only got worse, and do you know why?…for the big money, so all the fine words notwithstanding nothing is going to change.
I've seen lots of Trump caving in comments. I don't get it. How is threatening tariffs and then putting them on hold for 30 days after both countries have said they will do more and wait to see if they keep to their word caving in? It's a nonsensical argument.
IMHO the safest option in your case would be NOT to obtain a new non-O visa in the UK but instead enter on a visa exemption for a few days and then exit Thailand for a month as you say; but then re-enter on another visa exemption which you then convert to a 90-day non-O visa at your local immigration office before resuming annual extensions of stay.
The procedures for obtaining a non-O conversion for marriage are set out in the following link:
https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/6.FOR-PROVIDING-SUPPORT-TO-OR-BEING-A-DEPENDANT-OF-A-THAI-CITIZEN-SPOUSE-VISA-NON-O.pdf
That all said, this is, however, conditional on your having maintained a minimum 400k balance in your Thai bank account during the past 5 months in order to satisfy the financial requirement set out at 7.2, as the British Embassy no longer issue letters confirming that you would meet the alternative 40k minimum monthly income requirement set out at 7.1.
Ha! I figured it out.
When I opened the seat to put the helmet in the storage space, the seat presses the hazard lights switch on the right handlebar.
And there is the answer.
