I just posted the link to the debt clock which is tracking D.O.G.E.

You fundamentally don't understand what is happening with D.O.G.E. Every comment you make proves your ignorance.

"DOGE aims to cut as much as $500 billion annually in wasteful spending across the executive branch departments."

I think it's astonishing that any sane person would object to their governments spending being audited.

Now I see the doge portion of that rather busy website. And given that there's no explanation of what these alleged savings are, and no disclosure  who the people are behind this site, why should anyone believe what they claim?

I find it extraordinary that anyone could claim that there's anything authoritative about the anonymous figures who run this website.

I think only a fool would believe that a politically biased ignoramus should do the auditing. An ignoramus who claimed that he could cut at least 2 trillion dollars from the budget. Even though the entire discretionary portion of the budget is less than that. There actually are professionals who are trained in auditing and forensic accounting who can do that.

USAID - there are six named D.O.G.E. geniuses pouring through this department line by line. Aged 19 to 24, Dems are calling them little boys.

Translation - they are cr*pping themselves as these young men are ripping USAID apart. $20,000 to fund a LGBT comic book in Peru among many other ridiculous grants.

But here's the real problem - Dems are saying USAID is only 1% of the Federal budget. True.

But D.O.G.E has only had access for days, and Trump was inaugurated 2 weeks ago. Give it 18 months and we'll see how much waste and abuse is going around the Fed budgets.

The problem for Dems is that they are downplaying these "small amounts" of money. By the midterms the GOP will be able to demonstrate at least half a trillion of savings.

So what will the Dems say then? "Oh, it's only half a trillion?" But here's where the party will really start.

Wait till D.O.G.E get their hands on the Medicaid and Medicaire contracts. They're going to uncover wild overcharging to the US government and consumers.

Good luck trying to win the midterms if Trump crashes the cost of medication. I predict a midterm landslide.

I'm absolutely flooded by Lefties who actually want tons of waste, fraud, and abuse instead of wanting a smaller government which is significantly less reliant on taxpayers and as well, who doesn't act like the world's sugar daddy while ignoring the domestic infrastructure, the welfare of its own natural born citizens, and sending hundreds of billions USD abroad when it can't even balance its own budget.  So goodbye USAID and good riddance.

My guess are that those in congress most vocal regarding USAID are those who are receiving the most kickbacks funded though NGO and other USAID corporate welfare recipients who funnel money back to these congress-critters campaign slush funds. I can't wait until DOGE takes up campaign finance reform and term limits.

As usual, allegations about "tons of waste and fraud" What does "tons" mean in relation to the federal budget. This is just emotionalism. And it's always entertaining to see a Trump supporter bemoaning the budget while their guy not only wants to extend the unpaid for tax cuts he got passed last time he was in office, but he wants to create even more.  And as for sending money abroad it's a tiny portion of the budget. But I'm sure that China is rejoicing in the cutbacks the US is making.

What does sending money abroad it's "a tiny portion" of the budget mean in relation to the federal budget?

Is China rejoicing because matching U.S. foreign aid will be less for them to give?  Aid to Pakistan is not working out as China planned.  Now, total BRI spending has been cut back.

I know a course of medication which cost me AUD $100 in Australia would have cost me USD $70,000 if I had been treated in America.

The U.S. has a proliferation of lawyers and has become a litigious society with people suing for everything under the sun including medical malpractice.  As a result medical malpractice insurance and defensive medicine can make  healthcare more expensive than elsewhere.

Most procedures here are covered by private and government insurance with varying amounts of co-pay.  Hospitals, by federal law, are not allowed to deny anyone with few exceptions.

Yes, our system is expensive and not without flaws, but I rather get sick here than anywhere else I have been.  I rarely have co-pays and when I do they are very little.

Or they could be rejoicing because they can fill the vacuum left by the US. The US vets programs a lot more strictly than China does. So all China has to do is step in and fill the space formerly occupied by the US.

They could, but unless desperate, these countries will be less inclined to accept aid from China because of its well publicized debt trap diplomacy.  China rarely gives money away for "free"even though it may be a tiny portion of its budget.

Both Republicans and Democrats are responsible for the dangerous debt load of the federal government.  Now that one party is attempting to slow it down the other party is doing everything in their power to stop it.

One well respected financial fund manager thinks it's about time.

I think they're afraid the DOGE AI audit will find out that the USAID money is being recycled back into campaign donations.  Through donation mules.

I wish it was just one party to blame.  But it's both the Demicans and the Republicrats.

2025 is going to be a wild ride.

Very good reason to be defensive and conservative with one's investments. Lots of volatility ahead.

Yes, it is a good idea to  control the debt. It will require a sharp knife and a willingness to step on toes etc. However, the US has a constitution and is supposedly a nation subject to the rule of law. There is something quite concerning about unelected, unvetted and unknown people acting without transparency. The US Congress controls the purse of the USA. Dismantling agencies and departments that Congress has initiated, or has a right to oversee, without the knowledge or consent of Congress is undemocratic. Musk  has conflicts of interest with the groups he is attacking. Let a neutral person without a conflict of interest take responsibility.

Yes, a very unorthodox, and unconstitutional was of doing it.  Maybe if Congress had done a proper job in tackling the debt problem we wouldn't be where we are today.  But, by exposing all the wasteful spending the taxpayers will demand that Congress acts.  One way or another something drastic needs to be done before a heart attack occurs.

But it's not unconstitutional.  The president has emergency powers that allow it.  Within 45 days, he has to report to Congress what he's done and why.  Then they can override his EOs.  Or not.
