A school bus carrying over 20 students crashed into a roadside ditch and rolled onto its side, after being abruptly cut off by a car near Phichit Pittayakom School. Several students sustained injuries, but no serious casualties were reported.

The crash occurred at approximately 07:30 on 3rd February, on Highway 115 in Khlong Kachen, Mueang Phichit District. Pol. Sub. Lt. Apisek Jinangwat, the duty officer at Mueang Phichit Police Station, received a report of the crash and dispatched rescue teams to the scene.

Emergency responders found the yellow school minibus overturned in a roadside ditch, with several students trapped inside. Rescue teams worked quickly to free the children and transport the injured to Phichit Hospital.

The bus driver, Mr. Prasert 69, stated that he was transporting students from Wang Thap Sai, Sak Lek District to various schools in the area. As he approached Phichit Pittayakom School, a parent’s vehicle suddenly pulled out from the school gate. To avoid a collision, he swerved, causing the bus to lose control and overturn.

According to Mr. Anukul Phuengmuk, a rescue team member, around a dozen students sustained minor injuries, but none were in critical condition. Some teachers who were passing by helped transport uninjured students to school.

Authorities from Mueang Phichit Police Station and the Phichit Provincial Transport Office are investigating the exact cause of the crash and assessing any potential legal consequences. The incident, while alarming, is considered fortunate as the bus was travelling at a low speed, preventing more serious injuries.

Sadly, this is a common experience these days.

People are just not prepared to wait.

Glad that the kids are all OK.

Another example of the drivers education... besides that you can wonder if it wise to let a 69 year old one drive a schoolbus and have the responsibility for so many kids
