School Minibus Accident Reported in Chachoengsao

At approximately 07:15 on 5 February, police received reports of a Toyota Commuter minibus driver, losing control and veering off the road on Highway 304 (Chachoengsao-Panom Sarakham) near Ban Mai Restaurant in Mueang Kao subdistrict, Panom Sarakham district, Chachoengsao province, injuring 13 students.

 

The vehicle, registered in Chachoengsao, was carrying a full load of students when it struck a tree, after rolling onto its side with the roof bearing the full force of the impact. Passersby rushed to assist the injured students, while emergency responders arrived shortly after to provide medical aid.

 

Several students sustained serious injuries. Rescue teams transported them to Panom Sarakham Hospital and Ratchasan Hospital. Most of the injured students were from Benchamatheputhit School.

 

Witnesses reported that the minibus was traveling at a normal road speed when the driver lost control, possibly after making contact with the outside right-hand verge off the road

 

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine whether mechanical faults, road conditions, or driver error played a role in the crash.

 

School Minibus Crash in Uttaradit Leaves 22 Students Injured

In a separate incident, a school minibus carrying students from Wang Din subdistrict to schools in Uttaradit City crashed into a roadside electricity pole early this morning after a front tyre burst, injuring 22 students.

 

The accident occurred at  approximately 7:10, on 5 February, on the Uttaradit-Sila At-Sirikit Dam Road near the Khao Kaeo Public Service Unit. The Toyota minibus, registered in Uttaradit, veered off road after the right front tyre exploded, causing the driver to lose control.

 

Emergency responders from the Uttaradit Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, the Uttaradit Hospital emergency team, and the Uttaradit Rescue Foundation rushed to the scene with over ten rescue vehicles. The injured students were transported to three hospitals: Phitsanuvej Uttaradit Hospital (12 students), Uttaradit Hospital (7 students), and Pichai Dabhak Camp Hospital (3 students).

 

Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash as the minibus struck the electricity pole. Students inside the vehicle screamed in panic. Local residents nearby rushed to assist, helping students exit the wreckage before emergency crews arrived.

 

The driver and students seated in the front of the minibus were trapped inside, requiring rescue workers to use hydraulic cutters to free them before transporting them to hospital.

 

Fortunately, no fatalities were reported. All injured students have received medical attention and are in stable condition. Authorities are investigating the incident further.

We have big, open sided baht buses....they are so packed that kids stand on the rear step and sit on the roof.......and it's a 30 minute journey!

I see these minivans daily being driven badly; these incidents aren't a surprise

too many students in the vans and the drivers probably were busy with the cellphone and have a lack of driving skills. They are not aware of any security and safety for their vans and the people they transporting.. Checking you tires should be done regularly , but we all know maintenance is not be done properly in many cases

And is the appropriate insurance in place / up to date.

Wrong, it was the driver who lost control of the vehicle.
