How do you know that those people who criticised Israel's actions against Gaza have not also criticised Russia's invasion of Ukraine or any other country in conflict around the world? I don't doubt that there are anti-semites hiding behind the 'cover of criticism', but far far too many people have been outspoken against and demonstrated against Israel's actions for them to all be anti semites. The anti semitic allegations have also been a convenient way for supporters of Israel's action to dismiss a lot of very valid criticism of that country, it's leadership and its actions.

It's an immensely complicated, not to say convoluted subject. I thought I knew where I stood, and that I was on "safe" ground in criticising Israel while reserving respect for the Jewish people. Seems now it's not that simple.

It's simple enough for me. I don't even think of anyone living outside of Israel when I express my dislike of the manner in which the Israelis treated the Palestinians prior to Oct 7 and disgust at their actions subsequent to that date. However if you are Australian you'd be right in suggesting that anti-Israel and anti-Jew sentiments are for many, including it seems the government, one and the same thing. When you kill 47000 people including a large percentage of innocent children, you have to expect some hatred to come your way. Trump's purchase of Gaza and rebuilding plans with full support of Netanyahu are only going to drive a lot of frustrated anti-Israel sentiment further underground as reasonable options to disagree or protest are driven underground.

''  Agreed but if Israel is always picked out - when other far worse abuses by other countries are ignored'' . nobody except my MAGA friends) support Russia's invasions of neighboring countries. whats your opinion on that situation?  Criticism of Israel is NOT antisemitism.  this is a worn out misrepresentation. The Jews amongst my friends are 99% against the way Israeli has been ' bombing the $~## out of civilians. what Hamas did and does is indefensible.  if you read today's news you will find that Israel is rubbing its hands in glee at the prospect of grabbing even more land, despite international law. FYI: Israel is a country. Judaism is a world wide religion, as much based on the teaching of other religions such as Islam and Christianity. The majority of countries in the world support the concept of a 2 state solution.

There isn't very much there I can agree with you on. Criticism of Israel is not necessarily anti-semitic, but is often used to mask some peoples anti-Semitism.

As if you have 100 Jewish friends and 99 out of the 100 don't agree with Israel supposedly bombing the s*** out of Gaza. I call that out as total BS.

Approximately one civilian to one terrorist has been killed in the most difficult urban warfare in history. The lowest rate of civilian deaths ever in Urban combat. That is even using Hamas figures. Have you ever heard of a country that has been at war with another country especially after being attacked, feeding the country that they are at war with? What happens to that food Israel lets into Gaza? HAMAS Steals it at the sells it back to the so-called Palestinians at exorbitant prices to help fund their war.

23% of the people living in Israel aren't Jewish. 20% are Muslim. Muslims that were in Israel were also brutally murdered along with the Jews.

Muslims also fight in the IDF. THEY ARE NOT CONSCRIPTED. THEY VOLUNTEER.

People of 40 nationalities were kidnapped and murdered at the Nova festival.

How on earth can you say Judaism is based on Islam? This shows your naivety. Judaism is over 3000 years old. Christianity is just over 2,000 years old. Islam is 1300 years old.

I think you should say Islam has stolen many beliefs from Judaism,  and warped them. Definitely they never took any of the ethics from Judaism. Where do you think the ten commandments came from? Islam? Christianity?

How many times have you been to Israel? I doubt you you even know any Jews?

So you want to reward The Barbarians who murdered, raped, beheaded, burned babies alive in front of their parents after the terrorists had cut off the parents  breasts and penises in front of their children rewarded with a state? Israel-handed Gaza to the Philistines in 2005 for peace. IMMEDIATELY THEY STARTED FIRING ROCKETS INTO ISRAEL.  Have you read the HAMAS charter?

https://irp.fas.org/world/para/docs/880818a.htm

There are 48 Muslim countries, with a population of 1.8 billion. There is one Jewish country Israel with the population of 10 million. 7 milliona Jews. The only democratic country in the Middle East, when minorities can live in peace. The Jewish population hasn't even increased to the point pre WW2.

In 1948 the so-called Palestinian population in Israel was 700,000.

There are now over 6 million Palestinians that are refugees thanks to UNWRA. 2 million refugees in their own country. THE UN SETTLES REFUGEES. UNWRA perpetuates the problem. They haven't settled one refugee, and have been given billions of dollars. Israel's ethnic cleansing has been terrible.

They don't want a state they've had seven or more opportunities for one. They rejected everyone.  They just want to kill the Jews.  That's all they want. Is it ok in your eyes to tie 20-year-old women to trees, who were at a peace and love pop festival, shoot anything that's moving, then torture them and rape them and then shoot them in their vaginas.  Have a look at some of the videos that Hamas filmed with their very own GoPros while they were gleefully committing acts of terrorism.

They kidnapped eight Thais and held them in the terror dungeons one of them is still there. They filmed hacking one Thai workers head off with a garden hoe. 1200 Israelis were tortured and murdered.  251 people were kidnapped and tortured many killed in Hamas custody. If you didn't read mainstream media and Al Jazeera you wouldn't believe that Israelis are rubbing their hands in glee trying to steal land.

Israel doesn't want to grab any land they want to live in peace which seems to be impossible unless they can annihilate HAMAS  completely.

Pity 95% of the people on this site are totally brainwashed and Jew haters. How can so many people support terrorism? Only because most were Jews that were murdered.

Judaism was a world wide religion, after they were driven out of Israel, and had to flee, many times,  but then have been ethnically cleansed from most of the Middle East. They tried that in Europe too.

I hope you realise that the Arabs are from Arabia. The Jews are from Judea.

Islamists are the colonizers. Islam has colonized most of the world, mostly by the sword. Convert or die. Or live your life as Dhimmi and pay a jizya tax.

The terrorists want to kill you too. Hope you all enjoy living under Sharia law.

This is not just for you Paddy Power, this is for most of the people that I have bothered reading their posts.

An most likely Judaism comes from

The Iranian prophet and religious reformer Zarathushtra (flourished before the 6th century bce)—more widely known outside Iran as Zoroaster (the Greek form of his name)—is traditionally regarded as the founder of the religion. Zoroastrianism contains both monotheistic and dualistic features. It likely influenced the other major Western religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. For a discussion of the context in which Zoroastrianism arose, see ancient Iranian religion

Where did you learn about Religion ?

Astonishing , where did you learn that Judaism is based on Christianity and Islam ?

That's the same as saying that the Beatles based their  music on Oasis's music and that John Lennon was influenced by Liam Gallagher

jeez........try connecting the dots : Old Testament, New Testament, The Jewish sacred text is called the Tanakh (Torah) or the “Hebrew Bible.” It includes the same books as the Old Testament in the Christian Bible, but they're placed in a slightly different order. i had religious education as part of my private school curriculum. I guess you went to a dumbed-down school, or just slept through the whole thing ?

You are being rather deceptive there .

You added the first sentence to make it appear that Judaism came from the Iranian Prophet  Zarathushtra .

Zarathushtra actually founded the Zoroastrian Religion , which some claim influenced other Religions .

But your post is very deceptive because

An most likely Judaism comes from The Iranian prophet and religious reformer Zarathushtra

You seem to have taken two different sentences and joined them together to give it a different meaning

I think you need to read the article, and complain to Britanica.

Every religion have evolved, influenced and mixed world wide, and also stolen paganism  traditions and holidays to fit each and one culture.

Do you think religion just appears out of the sky, and do not influence each other. Do you think Judaism is unique?

If you want to believe that, then you believe in the script as being unique, and given by god, and what god said will be fulfilled. Israel has the legal right to conquer every enemy and take back their land, as I have said is the real intention behind this war. It will happen.

I believe all religions have the same origin mixed in with different cultures as it spread, and some clever politicians together with religion have made themselves superior to others, and convince people of their heritage and responsibility.

an endless fight for the same religious landmarks and resources creating chaos.
