A Substitute For Bread At Breakfast Time.

Featured Replies

Hi there , as I'm  getting older I'm putting weight on. I've cut out pasta, rice, potatoes but I can't give up toast at breakfast time. I've reduced my beer intake to 2 large bottles daily, I walk 90 minutes early every morning and I'm still not losing weight. Does anyone no a low carb substitute for bread. A substitute that's readily available in Pattaya.

Drink just water every day for a month see if that helps. No need to cut out the bread

Porridge

Porridge has just as much carbohydrate as bread.

The OP has to reduce his carbohydrate intake further. Beer is loaded with it. He should also avoid anything with sugar in it.

If he still wants to drink alcohol, gin and tonic or whisky/rum with or without a zero sugar mixer.

My diet consists of eating as much protein and cheese as I feel like. Fish, beef, chicken, pork, eggs. Yoghurt is OK. Low carbohydrate vegetables, such as cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage. Salad vegetables. Low sugar fruit, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries. Bananas are high carb.

My standard breakfast is poached eggs, or an omelet. Bacon occasionally. Coffee with stevia, a zero carb/calorie sugar substitute.

For the doubters, I am normal BMI, having gone from 93 kg to 78 kg.

Sourdough has a lower glycemic index than ordinary bread. Even better if it's made with some wholemeal flour.

Other techniques to lose weight:

- You can eat nothing one day a week. ie Fast. If you have health issues, not sure if it will cause problems though. And it does require a lot of discipline.

- Cut down your eating window. Eat most of your calories earlier in the day. Maybe try not to eat past 3 pm if you can or 5 pm. That also requires discipline. If you have an active social life and you like to have supper with friends every night and like to eat late, it won't work. If you like to have your beers at night, it also won't work.

If you can't give it up, I can't either, but weened myself off of everyday, then better version would be, whole wheat rye.  Best tasting anyway IMHO

Sorry, don't know where to source, as we make our own.

Also to help, eat the bread (higher GI cars) last, lots of butter on it, after your fat & protein, and fibrous carbs.  Should help slow carb & sugar digestion, along with insulin spikes.

If you make a few changes, there's no reason that two slices of bread with breakfast should necessarily be all that bad.

Anyway, if your immediate goal is to lose weight, maybe you could give it up temporarily.  No bread, no alcohol, no seed oils, no glucose no sucrose, no high fructose corn syrup. No junk food..  Just eat meat and eggs for breakfast.  Give your body no way to get energy from anything but the meat and eggs.  Maybe some cheese.  And try a three day water fast, if you're healthy. Once a month.

You'll lose weight.  Once that's accomplished, then try to keep it off. Add some green leafy vegetables and so on.

Dont have breakfast. Solved.

2 beers a day is still enough to inhibit some fat loss.

Seems at the moment your efforts are lackluster.

Bread is healthier than beer, but not white bread.

Just listen to that guy Lustiig,

Just don't binge on bread, might be sound advice...

2 large beers are 1.5lt of carbs, id give the beer up or go low car beer, low alcohol beer before I give up bread.
