They lost control of the village.

A huge number of tourists are lining the pockets of hotel and restaurant owners, who are mostly Thais originally from the south, Bangkok or Chiang Mai, who have very little interest in things going back to normal.

I think time for a bit of balance with a more positive look at Israelis. Perhaps Israelis are a dish best enjoyed on their home turf?

I've been listing to death metal for years and I see Thai teenagers with band shirts on and see them for sale even from time to time. I'm certain they don't know the music which is already obscure but they just like the graphic depictions and logo art.

Maybe this is old news or I forgot but those 4 Israelis that broke into the emergency room in Pai are being deported now.  The comments on this video confirm other people seeing the same signs in other countries over decades. It's a pattern of behavior which led to this, Thai's just  become "anti-semantic" overnight and target them over some prejudice based on a conflict happening overseas.

It's young men fresh out military service I think. They may have been at war in Gaza last month and then when they do their time they come to Thailand to relax and have fun and that's when the problems start. If these were middle class or even older Israeli people this wouldn't be happening I'm pretty sure.

Pai is a tourist cesspit. The local people and culture has been ghettoized into the far corners of the valley. Between the hordes of tourists, rasta Thais from the south and pretentious Bangkok (and urban center)  douches with fancy hotels there's nothing left.

 

It will always be a lovely valley but it's totally spoiled I would say. Anyone who enjoys northern Thai culture should literally go anywhere else.

Their culture and manners clashes with the Thais manners a lot.

Good on the Thais, they are not anti Israeli for any religious or historical reason, it is purely for their behavior.

Just a remark to one of his comments about smoking pot. Had a few  adhd/ptsd friends where smoking pot made their hyperactivity worsened and also their decision making as well aggressiveness

Long time now since I saw any, but patong used to have quite a few.

 

I also know from Europe, they will be told fullbooket or having canceled their bookings. More lately now than before. 

 

And personally know one camping site owner in Norway who try to avoid them as much as possible. It is not only a phenomenon in Thailand

lol Yeah, the east-west thing always cracks me up too, when people rail against "the west" for all of the woes of Asia. The amount of building up that came to Thailand via the US in return for using Thailand as a base of operations during the Vietnam was MASSIVE. Huge infrastructure throughout the country was advanced and it continued for years beyond the war. Thailand advanced light-years ahead of others in the region from that... but oops, can't talk about that. Some other guy sitting on a fancy chair in a glittery building with a glittery robe and headpiece is the one who was so brilliant and magnanimous to improve the country so dramatically, all by his own wisdom, with eastern inborn knowledge, of course. Oops! again... don't tell anyone he was born in the west (while his dad was being educated in the west) and then he was educated in the west and lived in the west until just before his time came. Hmmm his son prefers to live in the west too! Wow... Oh well, just don't talk about it and pretend like the east has it all and the west is the origin of the inability to think, act, and develop.
