Am I expecting to much..

There are so many benefits to frequenting the small mom and pop shops, some of which do a great job, and there's so much downside to supporting these huge corporate behemoths who usually offers  substandard products at higher than usual prices.

Of course the sheeples tend to prefer the places with lines where everyone goes, but some of us know better.

most small coffee shops will give a full hot cup coffee which tastes great by ordering a Latte Lorne '   or hot Latte ranging from 35 - 45 baht  ....     even the Bin Tao machines give a full cup of hot Latte for 35 baht.

seems you overpaid for less than half a cup of what looked like a cappuccino and not a hot Latte ...

"Latte Lorne" or the Bonanza Latte named after Lorne Green.

Wife went into an Amazon cafe in Lamphun Northern Thailand.

I had a latte coffee Carry out from Amazon hot. She had iced coffee.

As soon as she handed it to me the cup it felt very light.

I sent her back in to complain.

They told her that it

is correct you get 1 shot of whatever that means.

Is this normal. I feel done by at 65 baht for what was not even half a cup off coffee.

Maybe it's my fault but if I went into a pub and ordered a pint off beer and the they served you half a pint in a pint glass I would be very miffed.

Needless to say that we will not be going back to amazon again.

I avoid Amazon, first they do not maintain their coffe machines, and most of their shops have awful coffe do to poor training and cleaning.

Plus the shipping time and import fees of ordering a cup of coffee from Amazon make it really expensive.

When you skip the "huge corporate behemoths" are you "stickin' it to the man" or "lettin' your freak flag fly"?

As Patrick Henry said: "Give me a small locally owned ethically sourced coffee shop or give me death!" they have so many benefits.

Even still I'm gonna buy coffee I like when and where it's convenient for me.

Sometimes that will be Starbuck's.

I wouldn't be too quick to claim the moral high ground.

Whilst I agree entirely about using local shops (use or lose it theory) you are totally wrong in your summation; in my experience those who crow on about Mom and Pop shops are usually those who live in the Boonies and have a limited choice.

To suggest that Lotus's, Big C and TOPS offer substandard products at higher prices is just false. Do you really  think Chang beer is cheaper at a Mom and Pop store than MAKRO? Where do you think these village shops buy most of their stock from?

For me, a Mom and Pop store is part of Thai culture and the main benefit is that of convenience = plus the fact that you can buy booze when the "huge corporate behemoths" have to adhere to the law.

So........a big plus from me for local shops but, please, let's not pretend they are 'better' than the big boys.

I've always preferred smaller, I've always preferred an artisanal approach, and I've always enjoyed supporting creative individuals in small shops. Yeah, I am sticking it to the man. I just don't like huge corporations at all.

I guess that is a functional description of a kettle.

What was that thing called again?

It's a translation thing... It translates like that from languages of people who actually can speak another language (or 2) apart from English. Thought that would be interesting to know for the monolinguists here 😄

Yes, I think that is obvious.

Sadly it is one of Amazons many anomalies, I like a large cup of coffee to sit in store to drink it but it is an impossible request, resulting in a blank stare and no matter how I explain and pointing to the large mugs they have on top of the coffee machine my request always results in a complete disregard and a small cup is delivered,  WHY? I have not got a clue !
Apparently the large mugs are only for tea ?????

And so to get round this I order2 cups and request an empty mug which when the coffee arrives gets filled up to bewildered gapes from staff who find it impossible to comprehend my actions to obtain a large cup of coffee.

Quit obviously the brain dead moronic jobs worth who trains the staff suffers from the same lack of understanding.

I to have knocked Amazon coffee on the head and gone elsewhere, which is sad really because the coffee is not bad and it is not rocket science to put a little more water in a bigger cup is it AMAZON

Availability of chocolate fudge cake or lemon meringue pie or jam doughnuts can often be the deciding factor in where to buy a coffee.
