Johnlkuk Posted Tuesday at 12:58 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:58 AM I'm working my way through issues here at my recently acquired condo, and the next is the water system. There is a water filter installed and I have just opened it to find it is well overdue some attention. Is anyone familiar with this filter? Inside looks like this I'm still trying to figure out if there's a paper type element, and then how to remove it, but does anyone know where I can find a replacement, in Pattaya?
Johnlkuk Posted Tuesday at 01:02 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 01:02 AM I have googled/ lensed these pictures but most results came back in Vietnamese 🙁 1
carlyai Posted Tuesday at 01:26 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:26 AM Try searching with Thailand, water filter, make, model. Something like that. I think you can slip out that brown filter (was white) and take it to a shop. Sorry I just can't remember where the best water filter shop is. You could probably replace it with a Big Blue sediment filter then get a reverse osmosis 6 stage filter if you are going to drink the water.
sometime Posted Tuesday at 01:29 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:29 AM Needs a new carbon filter measure the size or take it with you to a shop that sells filters

Thanks, but I'm now starting to think the paper element filter is missing. Surely it would sit inside, nearly to the height of the casing? Yes, I've tried all sorts of googling, and now it's linking me back here to AN! 1

Meanwhile, I've just probed around the bottom with my fingers trying to find something filter-like, but ended up just unsettling the crud. I've had to reassemble for now, just so I've got running water, but it looks like I'll go out unwashed 😕 1
Popular Post Guderian Posted Tuesday at 02:39 AM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 02:39 AM There's a water filter shop halfway along Thepprasit on the north side, between Soi Kopai (Soi 6) and the PTT station. You can take the photos and whatever else you have along there and they should be able to tell you what you need. 3 2 1

KhunBENQ Posted Tuesday at 03:10 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:10 AM Others were faster. All in Vietnamese that I found. Yours is probably a PURE 557 with a single filter cartridge? (model nr. might be Vietnam specific) 1
KhunBENQ Posted Tuesday at 03:12 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:12 AM An older model seems to have three filter cartridges which might be quite common (10 inch, 2.5 inch diameter): 1
KhunBENQ Posted Tuesday at 03:33 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:33 AM Found the website of the company (Thai only). The product as such might be discontinued? https://www.purefilter.com/product-category

My model number is 90104, as in the photo above, but yes I did see there are more up to date models. I'm going out now to the shop that was mentioned earlier to see if they can help. If not, I might make up a piece of pipe so I can bypass the filter for now. I'll need the water on and the housing removed even if I just want to take it out to flush and clean it ready for a new filter. 1

I used to have one vert similar but it was a sediment filter with a collection of discs inside. I could take the cover off and wash each disc individually, reassemble it and it was almost as good as new. The reason that I replaced it was that the outer casing had split and I couldn't repair it. I will have a root around in my workshop and see if I can find it in the morning, but it is dark and after 10pm, plus I have no idea where it is.

I eventually found it today buried amongst the stuff at the back of my workshop. The one I have, but no longer use was a sediment filter made by a company called Filtex. They may still be in business here https://filtexwater.com/product-category/filter/ but they don't appear to be making this type of filter anymore. Having said that my old model had 4 x (10 inch x 2.5 inch) paper filters inside and was a sediment filter. The in and out pipes were standard female connections and 1 inch diameter blue water pipe connectors. You can find and buy the 10 inch filters through Lazada, as there are quite a few dealers. There are 5 photos in all, the first 2 are similar. #4 is where I pinched the cover with the clamp and split the cover. I cannot repair it and it sprays water out under pressure. I am sorry that this is the best I can do.

This is helpful, thank you for taking the time to find, photo and then post. Even though the casing of yours looks similar to mine, I've now found mine looks like it has a threaded part at the bottom. I took the while thing out this morning, cleaned it, and then took a photo or 2. The base of your 4 filter system isn't clearly shown, but would it be the same? 1
Johnlkuk Posted Wednesday at 11:41 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 11:41 AM On another note, I visited the shop yesterday on Thepprasit as mentioned earlier. Unfortunately they couldn't help, but I was pointed to a shop just up and along Sukhumvit a hundred metres or so, opposite the big Lotus. The guy there dug out a catalogue, and reckoned I would need one of these... They are special order, and because I wasn't wholly convinced they would fit, I didn't order there and then. At least now I know it seems, Pure have become Filtex. 1

It must have been my Internet connection as today I tried again, and then found a Line contact at the bottom of the page. I've been back and forth ing messages, and their final recommendation was this: The message which accompanied the picture said this: ไส้กรองน้ำแผ่นดิสก์ กล้วยหอม PURE ราคา 3500 บาทค่ะ And when Google Translated, means this: Banana PURE disc water filter, price 3,500 baht. To me it doesn't look like it will fit as the end part looks narrower than the threaded part on mine.
petermik Posted Wednesday at 11:57 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:57 AM Replace the whole thing with a big blue 10" carbon block filter here........

Yes, starting to think a change would be easier, but... The one you show is top fed, and needs to hang off a bracket. Mine is bottom fed, and conveniently sits on the cupboard base. Changing the pipework would be a pain as I would have to cut my pipework further up, before my main shut off valve. Anyway, agreed, it might be easier to source a whole new system than finding the specific filter to fit mine. 1 1

Now I know where it is, I will pull it out tomorrow and take some more photos after I dismantle it. I also remembered, after a while, that I used to put Vaseline on the rubber gasket, fitted the gasket on the cover, and then put the cover on the filter and clamped it. Over tightening the clamp was what split the cover, and I have nobody to blame for that but me.
NoDisplayName Posted Wednesday at 05:45 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:45 PM We've been searching for a floor-model type filter to splice in ahead of our storage tank. Saw these in Global, and on Lazada https://www.lazada.co.th//products/i5042137132-s21318926614.html 1

What would probably make sense is for me to propose to buy the parts you have, and then to make one good working filter out of what we have between us? That is presuming the top part of my housing fits on your base, or that your internals would adapt into my base. And you did say your filters are re-usable? Are you local to me, and would you be open to the idea?
billd766 Posted yesterday at 09:43 AM Posted yesterday at 09:43 AM I live in rural Kamphaeng Phet which is about 500 km from you, if you live in Pattaya. The filters, sadly, are not reusable, so you would have to buy new ones. As for me selling you the old unit, I would not do that. I will give it to you, if you really want it, and want to pay the postage via the Thai post office. That way, if it is of no use, all it would cost is the postage. I have 3 thoughts in my head about shipping. 1 Thai Post Office. 2 Taking it to 7/11 as I think that they have connections with a courier delivery. 3 I have a feeling that there is a courier service not that far from me, but at the moment it is just a vague memory of where it is. I have never sent stuff using them, and my Thai wife has no idea where it is. We have however shipped a motorbike from the local post office to Chiang Rai successfully. What are your thoughts? 1
