Camp coffee.

Featured Replies

Back in the 1940s when I was a kid in England we used to drink Camp coffee with chicory. Is there an equivalent in Thailand? I see imported Camp coffee online.

Camp coffee tastes good - but too sweet last time I tried it - threw it out.

Like having 2 teaspoons of sugar in your coffee, when you only need one.

Good if they had a no sugar or less sugar variety - after all, I think it comes without milk?

I remember finding that bottle in the kitchen cupboard when I was 5 years old and asking my mother what it was, she told me it was what people could get to drink when there was rationing and I wouldn’t like it.

Cafe Boran is old school Thai coffee. Give it a try. Common in old school restaurants.

Chicory has always been added to "stretch" coffee, or even completely replace it, especially during wars.  I can see how it was popular during the WWII years.

The Russians drink a lot of it and you can find literally dozens of chicory drinks and "coffees" for sale on Lazada.

I don't know about availability outside the country, but there is a US coffee with chicory called French Market, another is Cafe du Monde.  Haven't had it in ages.  My guess is some very large food processing company has bought the names.

Yes it is a bit sweet but adding a touch of Khao Shong levels it up a bit. Wouldn't mind getting hold if some if it was available.
