Hello everyone,

I'll be back in Bangkok in a few days with an e-visa from the Seoul embassy. Last year, you needed to print it, at least for Suvarnabhumi. Do you know if anything has changed and if you can now use your smartphone? Or should I print it again?

Thank you!

Pretty sure nothing changed with the instructions so unless it's too much like hard work why wouldn't you print it?

I'd guess he's in a hotel and doesn't have a printer and it's not always easy to find a print shop in a foreign country with signs in, for example, Korean.  That would be my reason to ask if I needed to make that extra effort.

I can't remember ever staying in a hotel that couldn't assist with such a task. As I said, unless it's too much like hard work.

I'm just suggesting that maybe the right thing to do here is to answer the guy's question.  Or just say you don't know the answer.  Which most of us do by simply not posting anything snide or demeaning.

You will need print out (hard copy) for immigration and also for airline if you're obtaining boarding pass.

Print baby Print! Copy multiple times too just for good measure. The Thais just love duplicate and triplicate prints.

More seriously, if it's in print and on paper and rammed in their face, they cannot refute it. This is my philosphy and always a good fall back. Renewed my DL (motorcycle) at a DLT in Bangkok last year. Had copies of everything, but, beleive it or not, one copy was not enough for a motorcyle licence, had to get a second copy from the copy shop on the premises. Apparently, car licence needs only one copy but motorcycle two copies. Who knew!?!?

To be fair the airline staff and immigration need to check very carefully the details on the eVisa print out to passport hence need for hard copy.

A screenshot would not be practical

Thanks, everyone. Finding a print shop in Busan is a nightmare. The addresses on Kakao Maps and Naver Maps were not valid, and Google Maps is completely outdated (2017!!!). I wasted two hours for nothing. Eventually, a shop where I asked for a print service did it for me—for free. It was the same thing last year. Next year, I'll just ask my usual bakery directly!

By the way, getting the e-visa is also a nightmare. I don’t know why it’s so complicated and why they ask for so many documents when they require nothing for the visa exemption. Once you’ve submitted everything they ask for, they keep requesting additional documents—especially an onward ticket, even though you can extend your stay by 30 days.

On that note, some good news: AirAsia now offers the option to cancel your ticket and get a full refund—for a fee. The cost of this service is slightly lower than that of an Onward ticket.

I'm not in a hotel. As for the rest, you're completely right.

Tip for anyone without access to print shop etc

Walk into any small business.

With a screenshot of your eVisa in phone and email it to the business and ask them to print.

Give em say 100b and that's it.
