Love was in the air in Phuket Town today as over 100 couples joined together for a special wedding on Valentine’s Day. Held at the Mueang District Office, this heartwarming mass wedding celebrated love in all its forms, including LGBTQIA+ partnerships.

The event kicked off with a lively drum parade, led by Phuket District Chief Pairoj Srilamul, who aimed to create an exciting atmosphere for these soon-to-be newlyweds. As the clock struck noon, couples walked through a stunning flower arch to begin their married lives together.

Chief Pairoj declared, “Today is an important day for ensuring stability in marriage. Every couple, regardless of gender, deserves to express their love and commitment.”

Among those taking the plunge were Duangkamol and Pornchai, who have spent eight years together. They said, **“Valentine’s Day was the perfect day to make it official.”**

The event highlighted progress for LGBTQIA+ couples, some of whom said it symbolised both personal triumph and societal acceptance. One couple expressed, “This step means so much for us after a year together. It shows the world that love knows no boundaries.”

All the newcomers received lucky amulets for prosperity and entered a draw for a luxury honeymoon escape. Joined by family and friends, the atmosphere was filled with joy and inclusiveness.

As Thailand moves increasingly toward recognising diverse relationships, today’s festivities were not only about saying "I do," but also about making love visible for everyone.
