: Its rude to eat food whilst walking around in public . Sit down and eat your food on a chair next to a table . No one wants to see you walking around with your mouth open emptying food down your gullet , Sit down and eat it at a designated location

Why? In general, I sit and eat or stay and eat near a table. But sometimes I walk. Why not?

  • Like ice cream? Or steak with knife and fork?

Not sure why you've bothered with this but it's pretty standard Asian manners. Chair and table?

Well no, I have yet to see anyone walking around using a knife and fork

They seem to just use their hands to eat , like animals do

So what foods then? Most Thai food requires a bowl or plate

Most animals don't have hands like humans.

I usually turn away in disgust , I don't look closely enough to see what they are chucking down their gullet

  It really isn't .

Its the Thai way to say nothing and just to agree with everything .............and smile

Its not the Western way to be critical of others behaviour

I'm confused. You don't know what they eat and who they are but object to it. Some markets have no seats to eat food. Buy and walk to eat. Some foods on sticks you eat by using hands.

probably a greater risk of choking on your food if you're eating while walking around

You don't seem to be confused at all .

I expect  that you are one of those walkers and eaters who walks around eating with your hands and probably wiping your hands on your t-shirt when  finished

Not really. I normally eat in restaurants as market food is dodgy. I don't hang out with tourists like you do.

What is wrong with grabbing a bite while you walk? I am in the West now and go to the markets most weekends I have my favourite sausage in a bun with onion and whatever dressing you like there are no tables where you can sit, and neither knives nor forks travel to Europe and visit the October Fest everybody eats a sausage while walking so in your opinion they are all pigs?

I would classify them as rude and ill mannered, rather than pigs
