Trump Orders Federal Funding Cut for Schools with COVID Vaccine Mandates

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday barring federal funding for schools and universities that enforce COVID-19 vaccine mandates for students. While such requirements have largely faded, the move reinforces a campaign promise to defund institutions imposing vaccine mandates and follows the recent swearing-in of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a well-known vaccine skeptic, as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

The order directs the Department of Health and Human Services and the Education Department to establish guidelines for eliminating COVID-19 vaccine mandates, identify institutions that fail to comply, and implement a system to withdraw federal funding. "Such mandates usurp parental authority and burden students of many faiths," the order states. However, it does not address other routine immunization requirements for diseases such as measles, mumps, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough.

Most schools require students to receive several vaccines before attending classes, though exemptions for medical reasons or personal beliefs vary by state. Since the pandemic, vaccine hesitancy has grown, leading more parents to seek exemptions from standard childhood vaccinations.

According to the CDC, vaccine exemptions among kindergarteners increased in 40 states and Washington, D.C., during the 2023-24 school year, reflecting a broader shift in attitudes toward immunization.

Tug - If you had half a brain you would have figured out COVID was a sham from the beginning.  Look what it got us.  The Biden Administration.  This must never happen again.  Wise up.

Current lessening of measles vaccine use in west Texas? Reports of increased measles cases in same area?

I am old enough to remember my Uncle having a "where'd leg" from polio, the "iron lungs", the closing of lakes in South Jersey (US) due to polio. I also remember the school required vaccine shots and when we were lined up to receive the Salk and Sabine vaccines. But, hey, if current Americans want to return to the "good ole days" ... have at it. Elmer, Clarence, Emma West ... Uncles and Aunt ... never knew them, they died of childhood illnesses now protected for by those school required vaccines.

Wow, hard to imagine there are still places demanding a proof for those vaccines. I'm not an anti-vax person. I was vaccinated for all the standard viruses and vaccinated my children as well. But never for flu and definitely never for c19. It was a terrible experiment on people. And the worst part is that it made people suspicious about any and all vaccines, and rightfully so.

You can postulate all you want. Kennedy has never said anything about stopping all vaccines.  A mandatory COVID19 vaccine (which is not really a vaccine) for children is absolutely ludicrous (unless they are obese or have some other underlying health problem).  I guess you haven't read too much about it.

Remember when it was the left that was always railing against big pharma? RFKJ was one of their heroes back then.

But get the boards loaded up with leftists flooding the Democrat candidates with donations and they turn on a dime.

The thread is COVID mandates. Nothing to do with measles or polio, forced vaccines on children for a virus that only affects the elderly

fear mongering again? The Op clearly states nothing was said about other vaccines. Yet your Trump rhetoric tries so hard to twist the story causing people to think more than what is real. Get a life @Tug not everything Trump does is bad.

As an American seeing the appointments he’s made his actions on every level both foreign and domestic you are 100% correct im concerned as any lucid democracy loving human should be……now if you believe in authoritarian regimes and that style of governance and or hate America and what we are supposed to represent then rejoice your messiah is in office!this Kennedy appointment is a farce and dangerous to threaten schools who take pandemics seriously is criminal in my opinion.

Is it not a conflict of interest for politicians that accept donations from pharmaceutical companies have a say in whether or not vaccines should be mandated in schools?
