No. AIS do not have a 12 month Unlimited 15 Mbps data SIM.

    They don't need to buy a 12 month SIM. They can buy packages as and when. I don't know what $88 a year means. This is Thailand.

I would be tempted to check the specs of the device as well as the SIM.

I suppose that it the portable router supports 5G and the OP's smartphone doesn't, that might justify the portable router's existence.

Or you could just re-read the OP's statement as to the WHY they chose a standalone router in the first place.
