All i miss are the easy women and feeling like a celebrity. The beauty of the country has been ruined by the locals. Cheap yes but not good value for your money

I miss my wife, my dog and the very few people I regularly do business with because i trust them. being back in my country in the west is no longer what I call home. i feel like a stranger here although it is nice to talk with people who understand my native languages and colloquialisms... but no longer home it is.

True but considering the British way of life is a mixture of boozing, Friday night punch ups, television and football I would choose Thailand anytime.

Must book that punch-up with the Mrs or neighbour for this Friday, as I qualify for all the other Britiscisms you quote.

You reveal your shallowness, not that of Thailand.

You reveal lack of depth and creativity in your response. Just a shallow insult.

Normal human behaviour.

Some people have inner resources and some don't.

If reading, contemplating, exercising, breathing, listening to podcasts, going somewhere for the view etc is high on your list Thailand is a pretty great country to do that on a low income.

Thailand used to be a really good deal, but that started to change in like 2004 ish... after that it has slowly got worse and the screw has slowly tightened ever since then. It's still sort of okay compared to many places but it's not the deal it once was. Thailand is good to hang-out compared to many places, but it's a fail on many fronts for those who want to stay long term. I could go into why, but that would require a hundred page thread that most of you would know and confuse the newcomers.

The key to clear communication is knowing your intended audience.  Kudos to @cdemundo

Which people make the rules? Most Thais barely know any rules and contribute next to nothing to the economy.

Thailand is like sponge cake. It is nice but no depth to it like mud cake. I need to find a mud cake country.

Below the icing sugar what is there? Just sponge.

Never been outside Pattaya then? You'd be surprised how much mud is where tourists never go.

Icing sugar? LOL. Take the saffron coloured glasses off.

You strike me as not knowing much about Thailand and just being provocative. Certainly don't appear to know any Thais.

Been to 6 cities in 3 weeks, over 25 restaurants, 4 train rides, toyota 4wd and lots of large cheap rooms.

Your view of Thailand is limited.

Speak central Thai, a bit of Lanna and Lao Isaan. Have a hot younger Thai wife. Thais are often lazy and ignorant of their own country.

Says a poster who lives in NZ where many of the population are leaving for other countries.

Meanwhile, people are moving out of the country in record numbers. Official figures show that there were nearly 130,000 departures last year - though that was offset by the arrival of nearly 160,000 immigrants.

"New Zealanders are voting with their feet, leaving in record high numbers," Labour MP Barbara Edmonds wrote on X on Monday. "Is their real tourism plan 'Everyone Must Go' - for Kiwis?"
