A shuttle bus transporting employees in Pathum Thani lost control and overturned after its brakes locked, crashing into a roadside electricity pole. Eight people sustained injuries in the incident.

At approximately 07:30 on February 18, Pol. Lt. Kritcha Prathumkaew, an investigator from Sam Khok Police Station, received a report of a bus crash on Highway 347, Pathum Thani–Bang Pahan Road, heading towards the Techno intersection in Chiang Rak Yai, Sam Khok district. The incident involved multiple injuries, prompting an immediate response from traffic police and rescue teams from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.

The road was wet due to rain, making conditions hazardous. Upon arrival, rescue workers were assisting injured passengers. Eight individuals were taken to Krung Siam St. Carlos Hospital, while the remaining passengers boarded another shuttle bus to continue their journey to work.

Nearby, officers found the overturned shuttle bus, registered in Pathum Thani, which had veered off the road and struck an electricity pole, snapping it in half. The driver, Mr. Nuntaphat, 52, was present at the scene, awaiting police questioning.

According to Mr. Nuntaphat, he was transporting employees from Nakhon Chai Nuan Korn to a factory in the Bangkadi Industrial Estate when the crash occurred. As he approached the scene, rain began to fall, and when he applied the brakes, the rear brakes locked up, causing him to lose control and roll on its side. The bus was carrying over ten employees at the time.

Pol. Lt. Kritcha Prathumkaew conducted an initial investigation and documented the scene for evidence. The driver was taken to Sam Khok Police Station for further questioning as authorities continued their inquiries into the cause of the crash.

Driving too fast for conditions, proper training would help avoid this, not to mention proper drivers testing procedures. What was I thinking... TIT

I drove from Ayutthaya to Bangkok yesterday morning, it had rained very heavily overnight in Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani but that didn’t seem to matter to the drivers despite it being overcast and a lot of water remaining.

Saw the aftermath of 4 accidents within around 30 kms, mostly rear end shunts in the “ fast “ lane but also a van on it’s side off the highway and in the waterlogged gully at the side …. slippery slope indeed !
