Perhaps... if the forum is 'counting' the value of positive contributions... 

 

The original system of +1 and a -1 seemed to be the simplest, and we could tell who'd posted them.

 

Only the +1's countered and someone who contributed a lot of positive info had a lot of +1's to their name.... I thought that was a fair way of telling who provided good, helpful, entertaining content vs those who were simply trolling idiots....

To be fair, I've used this forum as a 'resource' and asked questions, often fairly boring ones which have been answered quickly by someone in the know and the thread has died of quickly - it did its job, provided me information I needed..... 

 

I don't bother starting topics about getting short changed in a 7-11, or someone queue jumping etc...

 

But I will start something I consider more important... i.e. something which creates traffic chaos in a certain area, experienced scams or recent experience of obtaining an IDP (which sometime comes up but has mixed information)...

This may sound weird, but almost look back fondly to the coup days.

 

A lot of very spirited discussion all dancing around certain words that couldn't be mentioned, but overall quite intelligent if polarized And there was a lot more practical stuff, visas, DIY and Nancy with health stuff

 

Today if I had to guess a lot of the mass posters are some kind of AI or just the publishers creating clickbate to get eyeballs

I've never seen a forum with more than 10 good posters on it. That's humans. Most are disappointing. I've also never met a person offline who complains about Trump 7 days a week. Forums attract strange people and weird comments.

You are not and never have been a lurker. There are far too many lurkers that suck info from the forum and give absolutely nothing back. That's inexcusable as there are so many subforums that there must be areas of specialist interest for most. 

 

You may remember I was active on the General Forum until the ludicrous and inexcusable decision by TV to undermine the second most important forum in expat Thai history. It was a truly abysmal decision and was the beginning of the end. 

 

The next worst decision ( actually probably the worst ) was rebranding TV to Asean Now, utterly shocking and self defeating. Not a single person on planet earth thinks to themselves "hey, I'm interested in visiting Thailand, let's use the search term ASEAN!! 

 

Wild stuff, truly ignorant of all marketing best practice. 

 

Rebrand this place ack to TV and numbers will rise again.
