A crash  occurred in Kalasin province when a 21-year-old woman lost control of her car and crashed into a tree, resulting in the vehicle engulfed in flames. The incident took place at approximately 11:30 on 21st February near a PTT petrol station on the Kalasin–Somdet road in the Phon Thong area.

According to reports from local police, Lieutenant Colonel Wipakorn Buaon received an emergency call about the incident and quickly coordinated with the Phon Thong fire department and local rescue units to respond to the scene.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found a Toyota car, registration from Bangkok, severely damaged after colliding with a tree. Flames were rapidly spreading, engulfing the vehicle entirely. Firefighters worked for over 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

Fortunately, local residents witnessed the crash and acted swiftly to rescue the driver before the fire could them. The injured woman, identified as Ananya Raiprasong, was pulled from the vehicle but sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs and various other bodily injuries. Medics from Kalasin Hospital provided first aid at the scene before transporting her to the hospital for further treatment.

Abdulkarim Khan, a 54-year-old local meat seller who helped in the rescue, described the chaotic moment: “I heard a loud noise and saw the car speeding before it crashed into the tree. When I noticed smoke and flames starting to rise from beneath the car, I ran to help along with others in the area. We managed to get her out just in time.”

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident and reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Preliminary assessments suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle while driving at high speed.

With the lack of first responders throughout Thailand, the local neighbors always seem to be pulling the slack and coming to the rescue!

I don’t think there is a lack of first responders. Locals are always going to be first on the scene at any incident, as there is always going to be a response time for responders to get to an incident.

I am from the UK, and there are more fire truck and ambulances ready to respond to incident in Thailand than the UK. Response times in the UK are always getting longer and resources less, due massive cuts in emergency services funding, from governments that think public services are a waste of money, until something goes wrong.

What part of the UK do you live in? Less emergency services there than in THAILAND? Think you need to back that up with hard facts.

Why do people hear appalling stories coming from Thailand and feel the need to compare it to other countries?  This has nothing to do with the UK.

There was a fire in Kalasin about 2 years back. It was right in the middle of the town yet everyone inside died before they arrived. The response time was over 30 minutes.
