A couple believed to be Pakistani, avoided paying for a haircut at a Koh Phangan salon in what was uncovered as a scam, after CCTV footage exposed their deception.

The incident took place at Neptune Salon on 21 February between 20:00 and 20:50. Salon owner Kanjana Matura reported that the couple caused a scene over the haircut length, with the husband insisting on a shorter cut while his wife protested continuously.

After the service was completed, the couple enacted what appeared to be a premeditated escape plan. CCTV footage revealed the husband displaying an empty wallet before the pair stormed out, falsely claiming dissatisfaction with the haircut. Moments later, they were seen laughing together outside the establishment and the wife handing the husband back his money.

“The footage when reviewed later, clearly showed their wallet was empty when they pretended to pay, and they were seen laughing together after leaving the salon,” Matura told reporters. She later shared the incident on her Facebook page, ‘Karn Karnjana,’ to warn other local businesses.

The scam involved evading payment of a 500-baht haircut fee. Local authorities have been alerted, and business owners on the island are advised to remain vigilant against similar deceptive tactics.

The police should definitely find these two people make them pay double keep them in jail for a day and see if they laugh and think that’s funny TIT

This brings the character of Pakistani people into focus. I can assure the hairdresser that they are not all like that.

Personally, I wouldn't pay 500 baht for something you can do yerself. Same with dentists and chiropodists. Cut yer own hair, and give the saved 500 baht to a street beggar.

Am not saying the foreigners should be arrested or questioned by the police. That is obvious. But the haircut shop owner also needs to be questioned. 500 baht for a man's haircut it the highest price i have ever seen. Even in salons you can get a haircut for less than 300 baht. Outrageous!

How about a hip operation ?

I've got a dodgy hip as it goes. I keep it in check with exercise, diet, fasting and a couple of Magnesium tabs every now and again. Encourage the body to self-heal if you get my drift.

But you raise a good point Jim. If I was in an accident and hurt myself to the extent that I needed to see a doctor, I probably wouldn't care too much if the white-coat was a lady. But if she was petite and looked as though she couldn't lift weights, I would probably pass.

And this is my point. Why do some women want to become dentists? It take a fair bit of strength to pull out a deep rooted tooth. Equivalent to lifting 24kg with one hand I reckon.

A lady dentist ripped my gum to bits a few years back in London. Took my mouth 6 months to recover. Not been to a dentist since. Lady dentists are control freaks. In fact they are so freaky I will not walk past a dentist. Prefer to cross the road.

Then do not come to Samui.

Local salon in the shopping mall charges 800 baht for a haircut - includes washing and blow dry.

I said that I only wanted the haircut - not the rest.

Still 800 baht she said.

As you say, others charge from 100 to 500 baht.

You get what you pay for.

Most do not know how to 'cut' men's hair unless it is with the clippers.

They can be useless with the scissors.

A friend uses the 100 baht haircut and it is obvious.

Even he said that the cut is rubbish but now that he is retired, he does not care.
