Repatriation cash

Featured Replies

One more option for moving large cash sums that I've never seen mentioned here is Bangkok Bank.  Online banking offers to transfer up to 2 million baht via Swift or Prompt Pay.  There is a fee, about 400B if I recall.

WISE also do transfers of up to 2mil to Kasikorn and BBL.

1.5M to SCB.

Since he mentions "Repatriations" I would guess he means sending Baht out - which Wise cannot do.

PS - I may be wrong......

Using BBL, the remitter's SWIFT fee is B300, there are also the foreign bank's fees which, if sending funds to one's own overseas account, would need to be taken into consideration also.  For a B2m transfer the total fee would be B1050.

I see, I took it to mean if anything goes wrong, eg serious illness and we need assistance getting back to our own country (repatriation) then the cash will be needed in Thailand to do that, but of course, I could be wrong.

I have a two million baht stash and access to 130k pounds sterling of credit available to use as emergency exit money as you never know what can happen.

DEE money seems out of action since last year unless anyone else can still use the mobile app?

DEE money ceased operations 27 November 2024, AFAIK.

You are correct and I have used the Bangkok Bank app to repatriate large sums of Provident Fund savings from working here many years. Somehow, the other banks are not interested in your Thailand work history, and will only help you if they can see a valid Work Permit. (I was rejected by both Kasikorn and SCB).

The exchange rates are pretty  nad when using bangkok bank international transfers.
