No, people actually really like Trump. You may not agree but that much is very clear to me. Americans just want a pro-American president who doesn't pander and acts tough.

Bernie sanders is what dumb people think is the intelligent choice. The actual smart choice was ron paul

I'm from the UK so don't know a huge amount about US politics.
I know if you elect a politician that was a Gynecologist it just has Clinton with an excuse written all over it :coffee1:

That Ron Paul guy is probably more right wing than Trump though would probably be out of the frying pan into the fire!

Only democrat in recent memory i would vote for is andrew yang, just a normal guy. No chance for him to get the nomination over someone super corrupt like biden

I was reading a report on UK Sky News today, I won't post it to interfere with other news articles on here, but basically says Putin is going on his state owned TV and essentially saying Donald Trump is his puppet.  If I was in the US I would be concerned Putin is not just a European problem as Trump likes to make out for his new Presidential orders that he has to lift his arm up for a couple of seconds that kill hundreds or thousand of his own people, but America First!

Most Americans have an attention span of five minutes.

They bizarrely remembered his first term in a positive light when the fact is that he left office (very reluctantly because he became an insurrectionist criminal) with very low approval ratings.

You forgot to call them fascists. You must be unwell.

Trump is an intelligent being.

Harris was not an intelligent being.

Simple.

Nobody wanted Harris for president.

This should be obvious.

OBVIOUS, as I like to say.

No Idea.  I voted for Stein.

The UK news is your problem. Rid yourself of that and you are one step closer to thinking clearly

Why did Americans vote Trump into office?  Couple of glaring reasons that Democrats still don't understand.

Immigration - DEMs had no intention of controlling the border and the results were massive costs caring for the flood of people and reduction of value of blue collar labor for Americans.  The sold the middle class out for what they hope is a new generation of DEM voters because the people are brown.  I suspect they will be disappointed in the result.

Woke - why in the world is it compassion to allow men to compete with women in sports and take their scholarships and medals?  And why is it OK to designate specific quotas of race or other characteristic over merit?  This is old fashioned racism in reverse.

Economy - the lefts war on fossil fuels has harmed the US economy and cost massive job loss of good paying jobs.  No benefit to the climate as the jobs and climate are just shipped overseas and note to greenies we have ONE world climate so pollution matters not where it originates.

Fascism - the last 8-20 years have seen the left abusing our legal system and media control to tighten their grip on power.  I love how they accuse the right of fascism when in reality it is they who have been doing everything they can to hold power at the expense of honesty and integrity.

There are other reasons such as Kamala is an idiot and the concept of her in the Whitehouse as other than a giggle factor for a president is appalling.  Could they have not found a candidate who isn't a complete moron?  I guess not.

Note Trump isn't a perfect choice in my book.  And right now I am concerned with some of his policies especially regarding Ukraine.  No the Biden tact was wrong but Russia can NOT be appeased for invading a neighbor.  Whatever just the clear the record we had two choices and Trump was clearly the better one to the people.

OK firstly this is not a baiting topic, I am from the UK and fairly neutral in this and do actually think some of his policies are on the right track regarding immigration and national sovereignty.

I know this post will be controversial and probably garner Trump haters and lovers, but I know there are a few fellow US members on AN and curious as to which way you voted (if you did) and why.  Also which way you would vote if you had seen his first few months in action?

From a totally neutral perspective I think he is a danger to world order, befriending cold war enemies and ostracising the countries that fought with the US through major wars.

Is he doing it to make America rich and powerful again or will it all come tumbling down on him, yes the US is a huge economy but if you combine the worlds economy against the US is he not just shooting himself in the foot?

I know I will get confused and sad emojis on this but I am curious.

If I was going to vote in the UK I would vote for Nigel Farage and the reform party, historically I have been conservative, and this is where I agree with Trumps policies and Nationalism to an extent, a single country should not be bound to take care of the rest of the world, my personal opinion is he is trying to achieve that but possibly going about it in the wrong way.

Simples.

The alternative was IMO a cackling moron that would have been the same as Biden.

Then why did anyone vote for Kamala Harris? I think this would be interesting to hear? I believe some voted for Trump because they would not vote for Harris.

Trump won by not being Harris.

"None of the above" would have won by a landslide.

I've always thought that no person..male or female, in their right mind would want the job of being the President of The United States.

With the level of personally destructive politics being employed these days you really have to be a bit nuts to put yourself into the line of fire.

Because 100% of Republican politicians have gotten paid off by lobbyists.

To INCREASE debt by cutting Rich people's taxes.

And RAISE their taxes and cut SS to make up for it.

So, Americans wanted no future, higher taxes and more debt.

Either that or they're terribly racist and misogynistic.

But at least they made the Taliban happy by not choosing a woman to run the country.

Thank you America, not let female dog lead you.

    --Taliban, goats getting nervous

Basically because of Robert Moses.

He wiped out entire neighborhoods with low cost housing and replaced it with freeways.

Democrats wanted to stop that so they allowed anyone with any objection to hold up a project.

Overreaction.

BIG MISTAKE.

Brought progress to a standstill.

Hell, they can't even rebuild an trail shelter on the AT that was originally built in the 30s because regulations make that 100% impossible without turning it into an ugly concrete monstrosity with handicapped access (not too important on a mountain trail, mmmkay).

America has turned into a Sh*thole Country.

Trump Voters get it.

That's why Cali can't build bullet trains but other countries can.

Just downloaded the book

Why Nothing Works: Who Killed Progress—and How to Bring It Back

James B. Meigs explores why technological and infrastructure advancements have stagnated. It critiques overregulation, bureaucratic inefficiency, and cultural shifts that prioritize safety and compliance over innovation.

Meigs argues for deregulation, pragmatic problem-solving, and a renewed focus on technological progress.

You're clearly not receiving the message - it's for that exact reason we don't like you and have already "dealt with it".
