Just another example of why Thailand in general, and Pattaya and Phuket in particular are going down the pan fast

Because this type of tourists you mean? Else you said nothing relevant... Only solution to fix the trash generation globally would be WW3.

Whether you like it or not, and even if the guy was completely in the wrong, stabbing someone vs. ignoring them as a response is going to ruin the place's reputation.

Just training the obvious visible muscles + tattoos to the max seems to be a big ego compensator nowadays. When you then talk to them it is like you talk to either a teenager, idiot or both. Guess it's as populair as 'everyone is a business owner' and 'trader' nowadays.

The fact this guy had no t-shirt on while walking there at around 10:30PM already indicates enough. Then add the subjective judgement based on the shoes, shorts and tats and the picture is quite complete.

Don’t forget that every young underachiever is also an “influencer” and “digital creator”

Always find Thai law outlook interesting. Seems consistent to what I am experiencing in a current civil matter (probate). If a complaint is not filed ... no need for legal action to be taken. Consistent with sabai, sabai. In the western countries, after we broke with the Germanic personal affront requiring personal compensation (i.e., loss of a warrior by being murdered) or a blood retribution ... personal combat (god will decide the guilty), we turned to a crime being done against the broader society. Thus, charges are brought in the name of society (in US, public prosecutor). So, applied to this case, the law of the citizens of the Kingdom of Thailand have been affronted and charges are brought in their name, not reliant on the victim filing charges.

Seems to me that Daniel knows why and think he might have deserved the stabbing. Hard to draw any other conclusion, more than mental illness.

Has stupidity now been declared a mental illness? I suppose it depends on the cause - like being punched in the head to the point of brain damage

Could it be that the wound was not severe and he didn't want exorbitant medical treatment?

Funny thing, I’ve traveled all over Thailand the past 11 years, including Pattaya - Walking St, Beach Rd, Soi Buakao - and every other fun, interesting place north to south, and managed to never get robbed, beaten, stabbed, or arrested, It wasn’t hard, and amazingly I still happily enjoy life here without fear. I meet nothing but pleasant happy people and share laughs and stories. But then again, I’m not covered with billboard tattoos and targets on my back that signal “I’m an ldiot and deserve to be smacked around, sliced, and diced” , I don’t go roaming around at 4:AM looking for trouble, and I (**GASP**) don’t get drunk. It would seem either we’re not talking about the same Thailand, or you know nothing about the place beyond your 4 walls, tabloid news stories,  and a lurid imagination.

I met a foreign national guy Tuesday night in a local bar on the darkside, first he say's to me he's a political party guy, then said to me he would stab a knife right thru me?  I asked why would you say that to me you only just met me? He apologized and said he has small mans syndrome and when he has a few drinks he cant control his mouth.  The conversation before that same place another foreign national  guy syas he's a muay thai instructor looking into his eyes while he sows me the importance of eye contact, so we look into each others eyes, then he follows up that he dosent use muay thai he shoots people, I asked him if he was threatening me, he said No no no - We live in paradise why are these people afraid???

Hard to draw any conclusions, but yet you can tell he deserved it, and manage to make a psychiatric assessment and diagnosis when you have no information whatsoever 😅 Genius.

Maybe he just didn't have medical insurance and realised he could strap himself up and avoid the bill? Who knows...

Where did I draw any conclusion. After that you try to state it was a psychiatric assessment and a diagnosis???? Really, do you know what that is?

What you read, was my opinion. And you are trying to call other people genius! Hilarious!

Well I came as a tourist a couple of time, but in those years Thai food was great and light on the stomach, now they have replaced coconut milk by tons of sugar and cheap oil so everyone leaves leaves with cholecystitis ..

The night scene now looks like a soviet brothel, used to be fun and careless.

I used to trek among the Poppy fields, now they are replaced by tea and strawberries. Aka, Lisu and Hmong ladies wore their traditional costumes all day long..

And I could go on.

Thailand lives on a reputation established 40 years ago which now can't be backed at all by a country which is turning unpleasant at an accelerated rate.

Even Stickman seem aware of the change now.

Oh yes in my early years I never saw an angry Thai, and never heard of tourists getting beaten up...

Visa issues?

Yeah, that´s boxed under mental illness, as it´s totally mental to stay in Thailand without a permission to stay.

Can´t be so bad, as he didn´t need to be hospitalized.

Good backtracking. A little bit sloppy, though. You need practice.

Grow a sense of humour dude. What you said was stupid. I called you out on it. I stand by what I said that you had no information but made wild comments about mental health and that the guy deserved it without knowing anything about it. Typical keyboard sleuth.

actually, the Danish, probabily not whant to have an extencive medical treatment, to avoid a a large bill payment

If he was in his right mind when he planned his trip, he got himself a proper travel insurance. Now, if he got stabbed by a ladyboy, as so often happens...
