Bet he was ex-special forces who was as sober as a judge who only saw a slightly built Thai guy who needed a lesson in who not to mess with, no doubt when he gets out of hospital he'll have a good story of the Thai guy just got a lucky punch in.

Remember people no matter how hard you think you are there is always someone that's harder than you.

Not if your name is Jon Jones

I read that the old guy pushed the thai guy, and that warranted the thai guy to throw a haymaker on a 60 year old

Push is enough to start a fight. I've never pushed a Thai.

I watched a YouTube video recently of the YouTuber Trevor from buzzing Pattaya drunkedly standing up to  a big Thai bouncer ... luckily the big Thai guy had restraint ..

This is not the same?

No... Its not the same...

You described a large Thai guy showing restraint against an idiot and not nearly / potentially killing him - thats more akin to doing his job professionally and within legal boundaries.

The incident of this Op, involves a Thug nearly killing an idiot both of whom lacked restraint.

This is assault, it could also be classified as attempted murder.

Its an extreme and illegal response, it seems that just because someone is a 'security guard' or 'bouncer' they are above the law - this is obviously very wrong.

Why is it always the Brits? Do they have a chip on their shoulders?

I think back to when the Dutch soldiers came into town from Soltau barracks after payday, back in the old days in West Germany.

Running battles in the streets between the Cloggies, the German Civil Police, the Koninklijke Marechaussee (Dutch MPs) and the British RMPs. Most of town was put off limits to the British troops the weekend the Dutch got paid!

Luckily they were conscripts and so were not paid very much, or allowed out very often.

Mind you, there were some really good deals on electrical goods at the Dutch NAAFI!

A lot certainly do; mind you, we don't put mayonnaise on them, or go around sticking fingers in dykes...

Maybe the dykes wouldn't mind...

Trevor has a fight every night of the week & his battered face is often shared all over social media.

Then goes on his channel acting like he's a top bloke.

These one punches can kill people then in prison for life, is it worth it

Indeed, when he falls with the back of his head on a threshold, that chance is high.
(incomprehensible that some people laugh at this).

If this was legitimate, meaning the tourist initiated the fight, why did the security guard disappear?

"After the punch, the security guard promptly disappeared into the crowd. "

Does Thailand consider self-defense as a defense? As far I have seen they don't seem to allow for self-defense in their laws, more like mutual combat and both are subject to prosecution.

I understood the guard approached him, before he physically assaulted the guard by pushing him.The guard has every right to self defense, and to avoid, possible injury from a drunk foriegn person.

Not enough info. Even so, no reason to punch an old guy. Only in pattaya

He's only 62 he's not old a mere whippersnapper.

Big greasy continues its downward spiral from any similarity of a safe destination.

Even though the narrative seems to indicate the tourist was the initial provocation, the story doesn’t support the guard trying to de escalate the problem before resorting to a near lethal response.

You don't get a free pass to act aggressive and confrontational just because you are old.

Indeed, if grey beards were a sign of wisdom then goats could teach.

Not enough info to make such a statement, the idiot is you

Attempting to assault a security guards (bouncer) is an idiot thing to do for any age and in any situation - and 62 is not old these days🤔
