1, that isn't hog tied.  2, they said that they were trying to run away into the woods.  They tied their legs so they could not run away.  If someone is non-compliant, they will need to be restrained.  Most criminals go peacefully and pose for the the photo.

If you think that's racist, then you're as deluded as some left-wing nutjob.

about to be transported to  donald promised land of america ..some one has to: MAGA..

A Mazda! Not exactly the Fast and Furious! 555

Meanwhile, real carnage and death happens all over Thailand on an hourly basis with no traffic enforcement.

"carnage and death happens all over Thailand" Darn! I feel so left out, as I've never actually seen and carnage / death in 12 years living here. Perhaps you could direct me to a ringside seat at the next demolition derby.

two Nigerian men were arrested in Phuket last night after being caught drifting a sedan in the middle of a busy intersection.

That wasn't drifting, it was driving around slowly in a tight circle, no one drifts in a Mazda 2.

They were hog tied like animals.  I never see any asian or farang criminal treated that way in these photo ops.  This pic is more embarrassing for racist Thailand than for the criminals.

They were restrained, not "hog-tied", because they had already tried to do a runner from the police.   Nothing at all racist about it.

Shackling of prisoners was common in Thai prisons until quite recently. It's still done with dangerous prisoners in the US.

In the UK it's more of a sexual practise than crime punishment

These guys entered illegally, were involved in drug running and attempted escape and were stupid enough to do doughnuts in a car thereby attracting attention to themselves.

When they started singing I bet the cops wished they also had gags.

They probably should have cropped that photo so it doesn't show them trussed up like they're going to be put on a 17th century slave ship.

Hanging between a long bamboo pole would complete the look.

It would be interesting to know at which point in the process that they were bound up like slaves.

Although apparently law breakers, this seems over the top and almost inhumane.

Have we seen Thais or farangs restrained like this for what was at first a traffic infringement.

They weren't restrained for the first traffic offence, they were restrained because they demonstrated that they were likely to run again.

I'm not against tying them up.  I'm suggesting that maybe a country that depends on tourism should have cropped the photo of a couple of tourists trussed up like that.  It is not a good look, and it could come back and bite TAT in the butt.  Especially with all the scabs and bruises and dirt on their legs.

Just "a couple of tourists"?   Don't think so.

Once again, that's a detail that's probably lost on people considering Thailand as their tourism destination.

And once again, I have no objection to restraining them.  But those optics aren't great.  They could have easily cropped that photo or done the normal finger pointing at the table photo.  As it is, it looks rather 3rd world.

British passports?

Why would they have British passports?

A post not in English has been removed.

@scude102 reminder rule 16. English is the only permitted language anywhere on ASEAN NOW, except within the Thai language  forum, where using Thai is allowed. Short Thai translations of technical terms are permitted in specialty  forums. While we make allowances for members who do not speak English as their first language, we expect everyone to make an effort to post in a manner that allows others to understand their posts. As an international  forum we have members from many countries in the world, and English is not the first language of every poster.

How do you expect them to be excluded?

By getting immigration biometrics system back online to actually find these bad guys. Guys who commit crimes like this that involve cocaine and crazy driving have probably got a criminal record at home. Plus... Free visas are definitely attracting more low life

Hey @Liverpool Lou I was certainly expecting you to pick holes in my post, as is your forte.

Which is why I wrote the first sentence of mine.

This is a public forum, responding to posts with a reasonable comment, as I did, is not "picking holes"...you asked a question, I answered it. Where/how, exactly, did I "pick holes" in your post?

You know what you're doing and you're the expert on this forum for doing so.

I'm not playing your game.

My first sentence of my first post in this thread renders your first response to it as a waste of time.... but when I wrote it, I thought of you, and expected it.

Can you show me which question I asked?

I can't seem to find it.

"The police discovered one of the men, Anamere George, had a standing warrant for illegal entry and possession of cocaine."

So this idiot had a warrant for illegal entry and posession..........how was he out for those charges?

Never knew a foreigner with those charges being let out to roam the streets after that.

But again.....TIT.

Africa is smart. They might be good in singing and running.
