A tragic inquest has unveiled that Connor Abbott, a cherished 22-year-old football fan from Thirsk, North-East England, died from a drug overdose while vacationing in Thailand. Found in his Bangkok hotel room on September 22 last year, the cause of death was ruled as morphine toxicity by North Yorkshire Coroner's Court.

A GoFundMe page pays tribute to Connor, a devoted York City supporter, as a deeply loved son, brother, and friend, celebrated for his vibrant personality and ability to spread joy among those around him. "He was more than a friend – he was a source of laughter, happiness, and unforgettable memories," the tribute states.

In honour of Connor, York City fans organised a minute’s applause in the 23rd minute of their match against Eastleigh on September 28, reflecting the impact of his life on the community.

York manager Adam Hinshelwood conveyed the club's deepest condolences, emphasising their efforts in respecting Connor’s memory during this sombre time. Minstermen co-chairman Matt Uggla expressed his heartfelt sympathies, echoing the sentiments of the SC Block Reds supporters group, who recalled fond memories with Connor.

Despite these tributes, specific circumstances surrounding Abbott’s death remain undisclosed by his family or coroner Jon Heath. The inquest has been postponed, with a new date pending, leaving room for further investigation into this sorrowful incident that has touched many in the football community, reported The Thaiger.

The dowager Countess of Grantham would have been dismayed by this. The very thought of druggies from Thirsk roaming about is horrible. What’s next, jitterbugging in Ripon?

At 22, what impact can this guy have had on his community?

A junkie on top of that. Ain't it funny that in death even criminals are painted as mr nice guy?

Maybe this kid was salt of the earth, but if he were he wouldn't have died of an OD here in thailand.

According to some local (U.K.) press, he worked at a Thai restaurant in Thirsk.

It would be good if the Thai authorities could share more details regarding the drug(s) potentially involved if only to alert others to the potential dangers.

Seems like only a matter of time before opioids start falling off the truck from Myanamar and Laos jungle labs.

be more specific... was he charged with anything, and convicted, did he commit a crime, can you prove he did, or was he given something he was unaware of... please tell us what you know, because the article is not clear.

🤣🤣🤣Are you kidding? Do you think consuming morphine is lawful?😂. It doesn't come from heaven like manna🙏.

And yes, it is a crime.

The article is indeed very clear

So, not only Ya Ba flooding Thailand, now the possibility of opium resin and heroin - Thailand, the hub of "junkies"!

It´s called life. High on life, dude!

"High on being a Toxic Bigot" is more accurate.

Your vapid post once again highlights your complete lack of class...  a lad died doing what many young and naïve travellers from all over the world do...  Your only comment is about his nationality, both toxic and deeply revealing of your own narrow-minded prejudices.
