That is not what happened. Why  mislead people?

- Ontario Premier Doug Ford said he was temporarily suspending his province’s planned 25% surcharge on electricity exported to the U.S.

- U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick called him and said, let's talk and it was agreed to meet and talk.  As a gesture of good will, the surcharge was suspended, UNTIL after the.  meeting.

- After the call between Lutnick and Ford, a White House adviser confirmed that Trump had also suspended the additional steel and aluminum tariff asa gesture of good will too.

There was no smack down, but. Ford got the attention of. Secretary Lutnick. The Canadian finance minsiter and premier  Ford had a strategy  to wake the USA up. Unlike the UK, Canada is not rolling over.

Canada is rolling over. Still the 25% tariffs in place and they climbed down from their threat to target US electricity. You can spin it how you like. Everyone can see Canada got smacked down.

After all what leverage does Canada have? Very little.

You don't have the cards, Canada.

Whatever you find interesting, no thinking person could look at these numbers and think Trump has reduced inflation since taking office which was the ridiculous and false premise of the OP.

Statisticians measure changes in systems in terms of trends. Taking a single data point as proof of a change is ignorant. One needs at least 7.

The next 6 months will tell the story. IMO it won't be a happy ending.

Doesn't remain to be seen, if you add 25% on an item it will cost more ergo more inflation.

If you read my post again it referred to "massive" inflation as we saw under Biden.

Whether that happens remains to be seen.

The rub: Trump could transition to Pronouns and still be recognized for his Orange character!

Imagine having real journalists instead of leftist activists spin!

And it would of continued if it wasn’t for a election year pivot to the center!

Do you even look at what you are posting? In Jan the old man Biden was still the Prez.

Last time I checked, the inauguration date was January 20, so both old man Trump and old man Biden were presidents that month.

Not so much about inflation but sure, the US stock market has shed a lot the last week.

MSM makes it out like the sky's falling.

I'm down a little on my USA portfolio but nothing to panic over.

We got Canadians throwing up maple leafs and turning rabidly anti-American.

Typical dumb axrse Canucks.

Liberal Party of Canada milking it to the last drop for re-election.

Canada would be nothing without the USA.

Canucks better slap some sense into their midget brains.

Really..... So you think in 10 days of office that Trump was part of the cause for inflation? Really? Or perhaps just using Trump as an excuse.

If i recall those first 10 days were spent signing papers and hiring workers. Not doing things to adjust the inflation rates.

There are multiple long term supply contracts that cannot be surcharged because they are written to exclude impact of tariffs. Trump and friends were counting on that. The USA is about to get a big reality check when it loses access to new  electricity from Quebec. It is also about to lose its backstop access on the spot market. This means that during  peak energy times, the US northeast from Maine to Florida will suffer brownouts and blackouts because the US energy supply cannot meet demand. Consumers will also have to pay the higher cost of alternative sources if it can be found.

As per the The Boston Globe

Power supplier Hydro-Quebec stopped exporting electricity into New England’s wholesale market in recent days as the Trump administration rolled out tariffs for Canadian imports.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2025/03/11/business/hydro-quebec-electricity-exports-new-england/

Quebec, is one of the world’s biggest hydroelectricity producers,  is looking at  its legal options for its new multibillion-dollar power contracts signed with Massachusetts and New York for transmission projects slated to come online over the next 15 months.

Americans love their AC, and if they can't have it  this summer, they are going to be very angry and sweaty.

So far there have been no brownouts as you are saying. Did it ever occur to you that the US may not be as reliant on that power as you seem to think? They have other sources I am sure of.

Is it true the only difference between Trudeau and Carney is one went Blackface . Basically the same woke ideology !

Not sure. I know neither of the two men personally.

But Carns wrote a book and in that book he lays out his philosophy.

Not sure if he's changed his tune since his book was published, considering how fast the Green Wokeist economy is being abandoned by any country that wants to keep its citizens fed, entertained and free of rebellious thoughts.

Not many here understand America very well. We drive on the right side, we walk on the right side. In this country, the right is right. The left is unnatural in our country, thats what non Americans dont understand

What facts did I not quote directly.?

I gave the numbers, the proof of numbers and the opposing screeching.

Are you denying the numbers?

Are you denying that prior to this date, Trumps critics were spittlefrothing over the potential for huge inflation gains, the price of eggs was climbing through the roof, etc?

You are just a stalker and a flamer if you cannot answer those questions.

The steering wheel is on the left though. So you can more efficiently draw your 1911.

None of this is really relevant at the moment as the tariffs have only just started and will take time for the effects to filter down some in a month or two some longer.

Prices and inflation will inevitably rise as a direct result of the tariffs even Trump has admitted that.

Do you even understand how inflation numbers are calculated? You do understand that they are a trailing historic number and don't represent the current situation completely or accurately. You present them as if its a long term number and claim victory and disregard existing policy decision to enact tariffs that haven't fallen into the calculation yet. You get back to us in 6 months and see how its doing.

From the above Reuters link:

But the relief offered by the tame Consumer Price Index report from the Labor Department on Wednesday could be temporary as the data did not fully capture a cascade of tariffs by President Donald Trump's administration, which has caused a surge in consumers' inflation expectations and prompted economists to upgrade their inflation forecasts.

"Trade wars are expected to raise prices in future inflation reports," said Chris Low, chief economist at FHN Financial. "The Fed is sidelined now by price uncertainty."

Expand

Of course...why just report the news when you can turn it into propaganda

Indeed, not to mention speculation and crystal ball gazing as opposed to reporting what has actually happened.

So true Yogoda, left wing socialist Biden gave away so much of the good tax payers money to his left wing zealots and other DEI causes that inflation increased exponentially under his tenure. Now that Trump and DOGE are trying to stop the gravy train by the Democrats, inflation is finally coming down. Another win for Trump and the American people.

Great Avatar. Keep your cool, this place is loaded with spittlefrothing Socialists.
