Yep, I'm living here and claiming the state pension benefit!

And if you've got your years in, you're perfectly entitled to.

Many Brits i meet who live in Thailand, are on some sort of benefits from the generous UK, more so after Covid. Absolute parasites. Then they pontificate on muslims..

Awful.

Impressive, since the right to benefits ceases when you leave the Country.

I know none on benefits.

Either they're lying or you are.

She's not the only benefits fraudster in Thailand. There must be thousands claiming the annual state pension upgrade and free NHS access  by having a fake residency address in UK. Well things are about yo change for them as the UK govt clamps down on the saud benefit fraudsters. Now let's see who complains about my post!

Are you Keir Starmer the granny harmer??

The problem with the UK is mass immigration from the third world.

Not some old fella on a pension. Put The Daily Telegraph down.

Bol***ks. State pension is a benefit and every pensioner receiving it has every right to live where they like.

I wonder how many sphincters here on AN  tightened up reading this from the Mirror:

The UK Government website says a British citizen may still be able to claim some benefits even if they travel or move abroad, or even if they already live abroad. But there there are several instances where it is classified as fraud if you have benefits paid to you while abroad, which can include.

  • Not telling office that pays your benefit you’re going abroad, even if it’s just for a visit
  • Deliberately not reporting a change in your circumstances while abroad, like buying a property, working, or claiming a pension or benefit from another country
  • Being dishonest in order to get benefits, like continuing to claim the pension or benefit of someone who has died overseas

Brit mum notorious for TikToks on claiming benefits living abroad 'locked up in Thailand' - World News - Mirror Online

Certainly not the sharpest knife in the box.  I can see why she finds Thailand an attractive option. Lot's of people get stuck and hand over their children to be raised by others.  The difference being that that is usually due to unwanted pregnancies and abandonment by the moronic males responsible!   But the biggest problem for her is that she can't keep her mouth shut and her head down!  She obviously gets off on her notoriety and now it has bitten her on her botox enhanced backside!

In fact the State Pension is an entitlement and like any other pension is based on how much you've contributed. Social benefits are given primarily out of need or supposed need in some cases.

You need 30 years of contributions to get the full State Pension.

State pensions  and DSS benefits are chalk and cheese. They aren't related.

State pension is a benefit. It is the DWP by the way. It hasn't been the DSS since 2001.

She's just a kickster, jail time will clip her heels.

She's lived long enough on British tax payers money, leave her to the Thai's to keep for a few years.

Just deport. Thailand doesn't need trash like this. Really wish they tighten visa rules to get rid of all the tiktok "stars", "influencers", and other broke losers who really should be home looking for a job rather than pinching pennies and eating street food to live on a budget.

There are 1.76 million people in the UK claiming benefits for mental health or behavioural conditions as their primary ailment. Seems like a lot of people see it as an easy way to fleece the UK taxpayer. All the more amazing you can move to certain countries and still be allowed to claim it, although Thailand is not one.

Hi, thank you for your reply post.

A criminal disclosing own location and illicit trade details; normally, unthinkable.

Supposedly the Top Secret,  from the perpetrators' perspective.

As you say, she is numbskull(aka idiot), namesake.

My English friend said that recent UK is pretty strict about welfare payout(unlike decades ago).

Even the honest mistake of the recipient can result in the stoppage of the benefits.

So looks like she would face the wors: Not only loss of public help, as well as arrest awaits her.

I checked with google(re:social security benefit fraud in UK).

And it said that offenders will be criminally prosecuted...

State pension is not a benefit, we've paid NI during our working lives for that pension.

The government may be trying to make it one, but it's a right.

I was referring to all the other "benefits", dole, sickness etc. They all stop.

Not this again, legally the state pension IS a benefit, however much people think it is not

Who's reporting from Thailand on all these Daily Mail stories? Is Andrew Drummond back?

No.  This story's too tacky even for him.

This should be banned. It's far too generous. If you leave the UK and go live abroad, pensions should be banned. Go get money from the government from the country you moved to - tough luck if they aren't so generous.

I have an uncle who lives in Canada, never been back to the UK for 20 years. Collects a pension, comes back to the UK for free health care, optician and dentist appointments. Then get's free hearing aid batteries (worth thousands). Before flying back.

Utterly disgusting the sheer waste the UK government does.

Better to invest elsewhere than a UK govt. pension in the UK that it seems that they hope you just die by raising the start date ever so consistently over time and change the rules of withdrawal.

There is no rationaility to raising it in the Philippines - but not in Thailand - as the cost of living in Thailand is higher over time than PI.
