I report many YT videos every day for failing to disclose AI

These are the 'shorts' that appear on my YT page.  Videos that depict a polar bear covered in honey bees and being rescued by a fisherman, or an old man on TV changing into a muscle man before our very eyes. It's obviously created by AI, but there is no statement at the start of the video clip that this is AI, and many might assume that this really is a real polar bear covered in bees.

 

... and that I find unacceptable.  These clips have millions of views, and are obviously making money for their creators.  But IMHO it's fraud, making money by misleading the gullible.

 

I report any videos as they appearI.  I have nothing against AI, but IMHO the use of AI should be disclosed to the viewer at the start of the video.

 

YT does take down about 10% of the videos that I report, but clearly they are making attracting millions of viewers and I guess YT considers me as "Mr Complainer of Clapham"...

It is!  I can't win at this.  But it gives me something to do between my other hobby of telling men to cover their bare-chests when walking in the street or mall and not actually at the beach.

 

As for men  wearing shorts in similar locations, don't get me started 🙂

Come on, do you really think the average person believes a polar bear covered in bees is real? Most of these videos are so obviously fake that they don’t need a disclaimer—just like a magician doesn’t need to start their act by saying, “By the way, this is an illusion.”

 

This is entertainment, just like magic tricks, special effects in movies, or even those over-the-top reality TV moments. It’s meant to be enjoyed, not scrutinized like some grand conspiracy. If people can accept that magicians aren’t actually sawing people in half, they should be able to recognize that a fisherman isn’t out there rescuing a honey-covered polar bear.

 

Now, if a video is genuinely misleading—like fake news disguised as real news report , —then fine, flag it. But policing obvious entertainment clips as if they’re some sort of fraud? That’s just a waste of time, and honestly, it just makes you look like a grumpy old man yelling at the internet.

Why?

Because machine narration of videos is extremely boring, and a waste of time.

 

Creators seem to believe that they can use AI to create these lousy boring videos and that people will watch.

They are mistaken.

 

There should be a warning on YT videos anytime the script is AI generated, and anytime the voice of the narrator is machine generated.

 

Google will not change.

What is needed is an app to filter out all this AI GARBAGE.

 

If this rampant increase of AI content is not quickly curbed, then YT will soon become unwatchable.

This makes no sense to me. Its not your YT page, its your YouTube channel and it's YouTubes homepage you are presumably referring to, where the algorithm suggests content, including Shorts, from various creators.

 

The YouTube homepage is curated by YouTube's algorithm, and they can display any content they deem relevant to the user, so maybe they picked up you as a user were into these weird AI videos and wanted some more? As a user, you can always choose to ignore or dismiss these suggestions and focus on the content you're interested in, such as your own channel or specific videos you want to watch.

 

As for your YouTube channel presumably only your videos and no one else's are on there as it should be.

I don't see much in YT, and I avoid their "shorts" like the plague. AI junk is more likely to show up in Facebook reels.  Now FB is inserting that nonsense into my notifications as well.  Which is why I seldom use Facebook other than to keep in touch with family in the US and some bass guitar and music education Groups. But the reels in FB are an AI laden cesspool of AI turds floating in a reeking brown swamp of FB swill.  I can't stand them, and personally wish I could make all reel suggestions disappear from my feed.

If I spend anytime at all pruning Youtube, it's to review the "Suggestions" on the right-hand side of the page and either select "Not Interested" or "Don't Recommend Channel."  Not that it works long-term, it doesn't. No matter how many times I prune Democracy Now and NPR they keep popping back up.  I keep ignoring them.  Obviously the YT algo thinks I'm like a battered house-wife and that I secretly desire my abuser to keep harassing me.

It's amazing how many times we are told that "Thailand is a conservative country and shirtless farangs and farangs peeing outdoors is the end of the world as we know it."

I don't know how many times I've seen shirtless Thai guys in Chiang Mai and elsewhere in the LOS including my own village as well as seeing some Thai guy on the side of the road taking a whiz half the time I get in a car and go anywhere.  

Thailand is a conservative country as far as dress.

Actually it was forced down their collect throats by men with guns who insisted that "The West Is Best!" and "you WILL change your clothes to Western, Christian-inspired, moralistic attire - or else!"

I assume that the YT algorithm notes that I open many of these videos to check if the thumbnail/front image is AI without notification of that.  Then the algorithm assumes that I love watching these videos and posts similar videos!  Aah!! I can't win.

 

I'm still not sure why YT posts many videos of gimp suits, but that's another matter 🙂

 

As to bare-chested men, I would complain about such lack of manners in whatever country I would be living in.  Bare chests belong on the beach, not in a restaurant or shopping mall. It's quite amazing how many people (of all nationalities) seemed to have missed out on learning basic good manners.

The lies, fraud and abuse should be reported.   I have tried with no response. Many of them buy views, likes, subs, etc.

The problem with this is advertisers on these channels pay for Ads based on their numbers making money for the creators and YT. Some guy with 50,000 subs does a live stream with less then 100 people watching.  So bogus. There really should be an investigation into YT practices.
